Description
The Oracle Inbound Technologies team supports American Express' GBS, Controllership and Global Accounting business units. This team will provide business-facing responsibilities, as well as manage the Technologies PMO for this multi-year, high visibility program. There are approximately 100+ inbound sub-ledger systems that will need to be converted to the integrated Oracle Financials Suite leveraging the new POA Oracle Chart of Accounts. The Financial Accounting Hub (FAH) is the Oracle System Utility that will enable the automation of business transactions into Oracle Accounting Entries. The goal of this program is to eliminate manual reclassifications, reduce volume of manual journal entries, simplify reconciliation processes, and improve transparency between regulatory, statutory, and management reporting information (including Basel II).

The ideal candidate will possess both strong technical and functional skills to help lead American Express (AXP) through the delivery of this strategic global initiative.

* Manages multiple geographically dispersed stakeholders in order to drive multi-year program objectives; Ensures scope and approach are understood
* Supports technical Project Management Office, providing support for the Inbound sub-ledger teams and escalating risks and issues, as appropriate
* Proactively provides technical consultancy to partners and customers throughout the full development life cycle
* Manages and supports multiple phases and performs multiple roles throughout the solution delivery life cycle
* Presents technical information and influences decisions to multiple levels of leadership
* Manages all audit and compliance requirements and deliverables required end-to-end
* Works with internal business partners (Global Business Services, Controllership, and Global Financial Control Integrity) to develop and evaluate business objectives that support the business case
* Works with internal American Express Technologies (AET) architects to identify technical solutions and business process improvements which are in line with the strategic direction
* Leverages understanding of AET partner inbound system capabilities to propose technical and functional changes to optimally meet business partner needs
* Ensures that all documentation is completed to a high standard and adheres to internal AXP standards
* Manages end-to-end test strategy
* Oversees quality assurance and ensures appropriate levels of end-to-end testing are undertaken
* Actions escalations and is responsible for overseeing issue resolution and facilitating closure of any technical or customer relationship issues
* Leads internal cross-functional teams while effectively managing relationships and requirements with business partners across geographies
* Leverages information to influence the strategy to drive an extraordinary customer experience
* Ensures appropriate levels of communication occur between AET and partners regarding impacts to delivery
* Leads the analysis of potential operational, functional, and financial impact on upstream/downstream systems
* Demonstrates knowledge of both technology and finance business processes

Qualifications

* Typically has both technical and business practical work experience
* Experience providing technical solutions and supporting program office functions across multiple geographies and teams
* Oracle Financial Suite preferred
* Experience with Financial Accounting Hub (FAH) a plus
* At a minimum, must be trained in Agile; Experience working with Agile programs preferred
* Proven ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities, including planning, management, and execution
* Experience working directly with vendor partners; Leadership role preferred
* Must have ability to be assertive and challenge the status quo, while still maintaining strong and effective relationships
* Proven collaboration skills along with the ability to influence without authority
* Proven ability to influence a business partner to drive an extraordinary customer experience
* Some experience managing audit/compliance deliverables preferred
* Experience with GBS, GFCI, and Controllership is preferred
* Experience with SDLC 2.0 methodology, process, and deliverables preferred
* Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related field, or has equivalent work experience
