SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this position is project management for software development initiatives. Projects include new product development and integration of internal and external applications. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple agile teams and managing dependencies between multiple teams with other Technical Project Managers.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Communication
- Promote a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and innovation
- Provide excellent customer service to teams and other Project Managers
- Manage internal client expectations
- Coordinate and resolves issues escalated from the offshore development group, if applicable
- Communicate effectively using all channels of communication, including face to face, within and outside the project team
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with Program Management, Development, SQE, Release Engineering, Product, and all support organizations through transparency and interpersonal interactions
- Understand our technology well enough to support the project, identify risks, and facilitate production issue resolution

Project Management
- Organize, conduct, and attend meetings with project team to facilitate all levels of agile planning
- Remove obstacles blocking or slowing down the teams
- Provide visibility to team status and escalate issues to senior management; plan and track release milestones for software releases, and work closely functional managers of team resources to ensure team productivity
- Coordinate multiple software releases per quarter
- Shepherd code releases through the required release process and ensure tracking of all production changes
- Ensure identification and management of dependencies and integrations with other teams through constant communication with other Project Managers
- Help facilitate and communicate risk analysis for projects
- Manage multiple agile projects at one time
- Provide detailed weekly status reports and metrics on all active projects
- Work with project managers of other teams to ensure overall business needs are being met for company initiatives

Process
- Drive the progress of software development within the development organization, from inception to roll-out
- Use agile methodologies to accomplish planning and as such keep track of all team metrics to drive efficacy to meet roadmap goals
- Act as resource for project team members on the Pearson software development lifecycle process
- Work with third party integration teams to coordinate integration and tesing, where applicable
- Work with team leaders to support both dedicated and matrixed resources

Ensure the team has clear understanding of the quality of software they are developing and is constantly working to improve that quality

Ensure good alignment with all technology teams on non-functional requirements

Qualifications

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees projects as assigned by the Manager of Software Project Management and the Director of Project Management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree and five to seven plus years of project management experience in software development environment. Agile Project management experience, as well as traditional project management experience; integration projects and user interface projects required OR equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
