Senior Software and Database Engineer

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
As a Senior Software and Database Engineer on the CPS Engineering team, you'll principally focus on the database portion of the design, implementation, and maintenance of industry-leading software applications for use by physicians and clinical staffs in ambulatory care settings. You'll be part of a development team that is responsible for Practice Management and Revenue Cycle Management solutions for customers. You will extend and enhance established products written in C++/MFC and C# for Microsoft Windows platforms, utilizing Microsoft SQL Server databases. You will also develop the next generation of the software products using the latest development tools such as Microsoft .NET C#/WPF. Your technical experience and creativity will help drive the integration and evolution of the Practice Management applications and support the vision of the all-digital healthcare enterprise.

Your job responsibilities will include:
* Working in cross-functional project teams that include Development, Marketing, Software Quality Assurance, Customer Learning, Usability, and Support
* Developing detailed functional specifications, design documents, and test plans
* Implementing well-documented, testable, and high quality code
* Repairing defects and maintaining existing products
* Participating in program and project team meetings
* Communicating with other teams to better understand their needs and concerns

Qualifications/Requirements:
* BS in EE or CS or equivalent; MS in CS preferred
* Minimum 6 years experience developing complex business software applications with rich UI
* Minimum 6 relational database modelling/design with Microsoft SQL Server
* Minimum 3 years of experience in Microsoft C++/MFC environment
* Minimum 2 years of development with Microsoft .NET Framework and C#
* Multi-tier application design/development
* Expert-level experience in writing SQL queries
* Expert-level experience with T-SQL stored procedures and triggers
* Hands-on experience on SQL Server database administration and optimization
* Hands-on experience on administration and support of SQL Server Analysis Services
* Hands-on experience on SQL Server database installation and data migration
* An understanding of the software product development life cycle
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A track record of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience with software configuration management & change control tools

Desired:
* Hands-on experience in OLAP database modelling/design
* Hands-on experience with Oracle databases
* Hands-on strong commercial software product development experience
* COM component design/development
* Hands-on experience in .NET 4.0 (WFP, WCF, WF, LINQ, MEF), ORM (Object Relational Mapping)
* A passionate, high-energy individual who is a self-starter
* Experience in Java/J2EE
* Hands-on experience with enterprise application framework and UI design and implementation
* Strong Object Oriented Analysis & design (OOAD) skills
* Strong knowledge with design patterns
* Working knowledge of Interface formats such as HL7 and IHE
* Experience with health information interoperability, clinical workflows and EMR products
* Experience working with a global team
* Experience working with ClearCase tools
* Experience working on projects developed and tested iteratively (Agile or Scrum experience a plus)
* A focus on delivering quality products with Six Sigma Quality Experience (Green Belt/Black Belt certified

NOTE:
We need a development DBA who can work in VC++/MFC development environment dealing with day-to-day data modelling, schema design/change, and assisting developers in writing better SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.Per manager he has been seeing candidates whose database experience was mainly for database reporting, ie using the operation/transaction data. Their product is actually generating/maintaining the operation/transaction data. Current need for a Sr. Development DBA, must have SQL server experience.
