Job Description Yum! Brands is looking for a senior level hands-on technical engineer who can roll up their sleeves, take ownership and execute projects and initiatives. This person will be a member of the team responsible for the overall availability and integration of the Yum! Brands Global Network, which supports KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, in addition to Yum! Restaurants International, China and India, and will be a key contributor in helping to evolve our network to the next level.
We have a dynamic team, and this is a very dynamic role. The ideal candidate will be energetic and willing to work off hours in support of our clients in multiple time zones, willing to stretch outside their comfort zone, learn new technologies and be a resource to others. This includes planning, configuration, installation, maintenance and management of the global network. This individual will also assist with troubleshooting network performance issues, analyzing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions.

Tactical: - R esponsible for technical execution and recommendations related to the overall network and related technologies
- Recommends and implements network solutions based upon network best practices
- Maintain a high level of technical expertise in fundamental network technologies : routing, switching, wireless, QOS
- Contributes to architecture standards - creates and maintains architectural and support documentation for the global network environment
- Provide 3rd level on-call support for networking issues associated with the global network.
- Participate in charter meetings for projects related to the network discipline to provide successful project implementation.
- Provide for escalation and special project support of complex cross functional issues to ensure reduced system downtime.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and procedural changes for preventative maintenance.
- Own areas of subject matter expertise and work with management to drive operational excellence in those areas.
- Collaborate with the Global Performance Monitoring team to proactively drive network monitoring and management enhancements
- Provide cross-training to the team on areas of subject matter expertise.
Strategic: - Provide knowledge sharing and consulting across Yum for hands-on networking guidance.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends in networking
- Collaborate with design and architecture teams to assess and recommend new technologies and share best practices.
- Actively participate in creation of the rolling 3 year brand and functional strategic roadmaps.
- Assist with business case development and presentation to management in support of new technology initiatives
Overall: - Recognized as an expert in own area within the networking function and has full knowledge of other related areas of expertise.
- Assesses complex problems with ambiguous issues. Develops resolutions through ingenuity and creativity to identify innovative solutions.
- Demonstrates a high level of Yum! Business knowledge, including cross business unit, function, domestic/global integrations.
- Supports the global and brand business challenges, projects, and R&D/POC efforts.
- Displays proficiency in project management techniques, including time estimates and setting expectations.
- Works independently and receives guidance in only the most complex situations. Completed work is reviewed from relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Makes sound decisions under conditions of risk and uncertainty.
- Interacts with management, internal senior personnel, external senior personnel and key customers. Mentors less experienced team members officially and unofficially.
- Represents function as a principal contact on projects.
Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field
Advanced Network certification (CCNP/CCIE) or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):
- 8 years hands on experience in the configuration of Cisco products and other communications equipment/suites in a Global enterprise environment preferred.
- 8 years? experience in a broad range of networking tasks including planning, design, test, integration and deployment of high-speed, secure, highly survivable, voice, data & video networks preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work in a global, multi-site environment.
- Able to prioritize and drive issues, tasks, and deliverables from concept to closure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem management and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Expert in Cisco Platforms, TCP/IP, MPLS, Routing, Switching, Wireless/controllers, Firewall, VPN, EIGRP,OSPF, BGP, QOS, Carrier WAN/Metro/Internet circuits, Internet architecture, packet capture, and troubleshooting above.
- Experience with application and performance monitoring a plus (Solarwinds, LiveAction etc.)
- Experience with Application Optimization & Awareness a plus (Riverbed, Ipanema etc.)
- Some global travel and/or short-term or permanent assignments possible.
