Job Description

Pizza Hut is looking for an experienced software engineer to work on our in-restaurant systems software development team. In addition to performing specific software development tasks, this person will interface directly with our internal IT customer representatives to define and clarify business requirements, and will contribute to the formulation and implementation of our long-term in-restaurant IT strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain Pizza Hut's in-restaurant software applications
- Communicate daily with project team members to discuss progress, next commitments, and roadblocks
- Conceive designs for software that follow internal and industry-standard best practices
- Interact with internal Pizza Hut customers to elicit business requirements, clarify functional questions during development, and keep them regularly apprised of progress toward deliverables
- Participate in project planning activities - breakdown of requirements into tasks, resource and duration estimation, etc.
- Follow team processes for project management
- Create functional and technical documentation as required - this may include use case realizations, detailed technical designs, etc.
- Provide support to and build know-how with the Pizza Hut QA and Support teams.

Minimum Requirements Background:

- At least a bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
- 3-5 years of work experience in a software development career

Skills and Abilities:

- Strong background in Linux
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Java on Linux platforms
- Significant experience using relational database systems (PostgreSQL is a plus)
- Strong object-oriented design skills
- Strong Shell Scripting abilities
- Significant experience with traditional and Agile software development methodologies and excellent working knowledge of best practices in each
- Ability to work well at every level of the software process, from requirements engineering to coding
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
- Experience developing and maintaining complex, multi-layer systems
- Willingness to adopt best practices, no matter where they come from
- Dynamic, results-oriented personality with a positive attitude and a leader mentality
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team in an extremely fast-paced environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines
- Ability to create well-organized and concise functional and technical documentation
- Understanding of the restaurant industry is a plus
- Experience working with point-of-sale systems is a plus
- Experience using the Qt development framework is a plus
- Passionate about delivering quality software on time and within budget
