Are you passionate about data privacy? Do you want to help make things right when they go wrong? Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment with company-wide scope and executive-level visibility? If so, this position is for you. Microsoft has an immediate opening for a Senior Privacy Program Manager to manage the response to high profile privacy incidents company-wide.
We're looking for a world-class candidate to join our Incident Response Team. The team is responsible for managing high-priority security and privacy incidents company-wide, including the Software Security Incident Response Plan (SSIRP) process. This position is focused on the most severe privacy incidents in which customer data has been or may have been lost or stolen. Privacy is a new addition to the team's portfolio, and part of this position will include figuring out the details of how to extend our world-class security incident response process to manage privacy incidents.
The leadership opportunity of this individual contributor position is unique. As the Senior Privacy Program Manager you will interface on a regular basis with some of the most senior leaders at Microsoft, including executives to VP level. On an expedited schedule you will assess the impact of privacy issues to Microsoft's business and drive a global collective of teams across the company to deliver customer guidance and remediation. In this process you will manage and inform all parties and make key risk decisions in an overall effort to protect customers' data, make Microsoft products more secure, and protect the Microsoft brand.
This Senior Privacy Program Manager role requires a commitment beyond most roles at Microsoft. Responding to privacy issues in an expedited fashion involves on-call work at non-standard work hours and a stressful but rewarding work environment. This challenging work is not for everyone. The benefits related to these opportunity costs, however, are outstanding in terms of new experiences, visibility, growth potential, and the direct impact you will have on Microsoft's customers.
Strong candidates will have previous experience with privacy and/or incident response. Excellent communications, attention to detail and the ability to foster cooperation across groups are key success factors for this role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work effectively in situations involving uncertainty or lack of information, and the ability to organize information are must-haves. A solid understanding of Microsoft technologies and products, especially as they relate to online services, will ensure a quick start. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in successfully performing project management involving diverse groups. A B.A or B.S. degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience, is required. A CIPP certification, demonstrated interest in information security and/or prior experience in product development and product release are a plus.
The position is part of the Trustworthy Computing (TwC) group and will be based in Redmond, WA.
