Req# 137960BR Position Title Manager - Small Cell Core Development Position Summary
Directs and manages the research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Manages the activities of individual contributors or supervisors with accountability for goals, objectives, and operational policies. May participate in the development of functional strategy. Has responsibility for hiring, termination, performance, and salary decisions.
As the Manager of Small Cell Core Development, you will be responsible for the design, development, architecture, testing, and FIT of the core network elements that will support Sprint's small cells (PICO and FEMTO). The core development team will have the responsibility for the end-to-end IP design and architecture for the small cell core. You will also be responsible for defining the architectural evolution necessary as the small cell footprint expands including decisions on the use of security gateways, home eNodeB aggregators, and the methods for routing data traffic locally or through the EPC. The team will also have the responsibility to define a roadmap and driving vendor commitment and delivery of roadmap items.
Candidates should have background in development and planning, and strong knowledge of Network and complex system integration. Experience in IP core development is required. Knowledge of IP routing, switching, and security platforms is required. Creating and maintaining an Organization, developing key talent, and creating cohesiveness across the team is needed. Strong communication and collaboration skills are needed to create network evolution plans that account for small cells core evolution and technology roadmaps to meet Business needs and assessing business options
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
- Three years experience in research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission
- Two years experience with project management, leadership of project implementation
- One year supervisory or management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering Degree, BS/MS
- 7+ year of Management experience
Development and Integration of complex Real Time systems and services
- IP design and development experience
- Network Supplier Management Experience
