Position Title Manager Telecom Design Engineering
Position Summary
Directs and manages the research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Manages the activities of individual contributors or supervisors with accountability for goals, objectives, and operational policies. May participate in the development of functional strategy. Has responsibility for hiring, termination, performance, and salary decisions.
This position will be responsible for leading a team to design, develop, integrate, and test complex femtocell management system projects in order to maintain Sprint's best in class femtocell network.
The position will require working in a team environment with other related organizations within the company, the ability to lead a team of skilled engineers, the ability to set goals and provide clear direction, and the ability to manage supplier relationships. In addition, this position will require clear communication to executives on project status and small cell strategy. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Femtocell Development.
This position is open in Reston, VA and Overland Park, KS.
This position requires a unique combination of leadership skills and experience with management systems, RF planning, and femtocell systems.
- Experience designing femtocell management systems
- Experience designing automatic RF planning systems
- Demonstrated understanding of macro cell site database and configuration systems
- Demonstrated vendor management and contract experience
- Experience making strategic network development decisions and communicating effectively to executives
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
- Three years experience in research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission
- Two years experience with project management, leadership of project implementation
- One year supervisory or management experience
