Senior Network Security Monitoring Analyst

As a Senior Network Security Monitoring Analyst within Bechtel, you will be helping in the deployment, maintenance, and analysis of network traffic capturing systems, network IDS/IPS, and network flow analysis systems. The primary mission is to define computer systems and networks against attacks aimed at disrupting services, gaining unauthorized access or violating the integrity of data.

The Senior Network Security Monitoring Analyst duties and responsibilities will include the following:

- Review and analyze data from a variety of tools (network traffic logs, intrusion detection systems alerts, firewall/system logs open source information) to identify threat activity and recommend appropriate counter measures.
- Create technically detailed reports based on intrusion and events.
- Provides assistance in computer incident investigations.
- Assist in the evaluation, research, and development of computer and network security tools.
- Mentor more junior analysts

Basic Qualifications

- 6+ years of experience in information security.
- 1+ years of experience working on computer security incident response team.
- Working knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems (eg Snort/Bro).
- Strong skill set in network forensics.
- Ability to obtain, or already possess an active security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

- 8+ years of experience in information security
- 2+ years of experience working on a computer security incident response team
- Working knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems (eg Snort/Bro).
- Strong skill set in network forensics.
- Ability to obtain, or already possess an active security clearance

Additional Information:

- Proficiency in developing and deploying custom IDS/IPS signatures.
- Experience with using tools for statistical analysis of network traffic.
- Experience with using and developing for session analysis of network traffic.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP,DNS, HTTP,SMTP and SNMP protocols.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Windows, Apple, and Linux based operating systems (eg XP, Windows 7, 2003, 2008, OS X).
- Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is highly desired.
- Experience with version control software (eg Git, SVN,CVS) a plus.
- Experience with setting up network devices (eg routers, switches, firewalls).
- Knowledge of two or more of the following languages (Perl, Pyton, C, C++, Shell, SQL, HTML, CSS, XSLT, XML, Java, EnScript).
