This position will play a role on the Global IT team and will be working in a highly dynamic, fast changing and fluid work environment. We are seeking a talented individual for the technical lead role to support the Best Buy's tax systems. This role will be a technical subject matter expert in areas of Vertex.

The Technical Lead is a member of the application delivery team and will be responsible for providing technical expertise and functional knowledge to design, develop and implement secure integrated IT/Business solutions. The purpose of this role is to drive appropriate technical solutions for application integration; view alternatives from an end-to-end integrated perspective and understand the broader implications of technical and business related choices. In addition this role will provide ongoing systems support once solutions are built and deployed. This person interacts with and must be able to influence other managers, directors and partners throughout the organization.

Key position responsibilities include:
- This role must effectively partner and/or lead teams with various staffing models of internal and external on-shore and off-shore resources in order to deliver successful solutions
- Lead design workshops to enable the preparation of detailed functional specifications for translation into structured technical specifications
- Provide input to the cross system integration design
- Creation of system data flow definitions and diagrams
- Define and deliver non-functional requirements definitions
- Understand and document the technical specifications/limitations including application capacity
- Create technical conversion specifications which include data mapping from existing source, transaction volumes, security and performance requirements
- Support testing activities by assisting in root cause analysis and by providing recommendations to resolve all known issues
- Support service introduction of new releases into production by providing technical knowledge transfer to the support teams
- Create the technical components of the deployment plan and lead the technical team through the deployment process
- Provide post implementation escalation and communication support through the warranty period
- Provide input into TCO optimization
Vertex Related:
- Understanding of tax laws for both Sales and Use tax to implement within Vertex to ensure compliance
- Knowledge of database schema's or web services or other technical components
- Ability to understand the environment and data flows in/out of Vertex
- Experience integrating Vertex with applications within the organization
- Ability to configure the Vertex to meet business needs
- Vertex Certification is a plus

Basic Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Multiple years of experience with areas of Finance and Tax technologies
- Knowledge of business applications, underlying architecture and product lifecycle
- 3 or more years of management or leadership experience
- 3-5 years of experience working with Vertex
- 10 years' experience in one more of the following areas, with demonstrated progression of responsibilities:
o Application development and delivery
o Program or project management
o Business process reengineering
o Product design and product strategy
o Application management

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, business or related field
- 5 or more years of experience implementing large scale systems with tax components and integration
- 5 or more years of prior experience with and deep understanding of integrated Tax and Finance system blueprints
- 3 or more years in a Technical Lead role within the Vertex environment
- 5 or more years of experience in complex integrated systems design and development across multiple capabilities
- Clear understanding of architecture principles
- 3 or more years of experience at a manager level in global consumer orientated retail organization, digital business or related industry
- Vertex Certification is a plus
