Responsibilities

Position Description
Using your own personal development skills along with
the diverse skills of others, you will be part of an elite team that is building cloud-based, highly-available and scalable solutions for integrating learning systems that have never been brought together before. The ultimate purpose is providing students
and teachers with digital solutions that revolutionize the education experience. You will be working with product owners to define product requirements and will be part of a cross-functional development team consisting of developers, testers, quality assurance
and implementations personnel to design, develop, test, debug, and launch high quality applications and solutions in enterprise application integration projects.

JOB SUMMARY
Working in fast-paced, Agile/SCRUM environment developing
frequent upgrades to cloud-based deployments of interoperability technology that uses an operational data store and RESTful web services. The work, primarily based in Java, balances customer and business needs with available resources, to design, develop,
test, and deliver against timelines. Contribute to architecture and code design, code reviews, regression testing, documentation, and QA to ensure top-quality software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Plays a visibly active role in the software development
process by orchestrating or consulting in the conceptualization, design, planning, specification, and development of the company's frameworks and products.
- Works as a technical leader and contributor on important projects and activities of diverse scope
- Works with managers as a team leader on developing
strategies within broadly defined frameworks
- Continues to acquire specialized functional knowledge, more complex skills and operating practices
- Builds collaborative work relationships across the organization and delivers solutions also to external customers on specific issues
- Remains flexible and responsive to changing priorities and multiple, concurrent responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for delivery of quality outcomes for assigned projects and products with consideration of functional business goals and financial objectives
- Responsible for analysis of current programs including performance issues and incorrect application behavior
- Documents code consistently throughout the development process, following department conventions
- Contributes to product maintainability and reuse, code reviews, unit testing, regression testing, performance testing, problem determination and resolution, and documentation while adhering to development conventions
- Provides assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems
- Provides excellent intellectual property stewardship by adhering to specified, software source code control systems, coding and documentation standards, discussion databases, incident tracking systems and CRM systems

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Should have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science
or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Must have 8+ years of experience in software development
with recent experience in resource-oriented architecture.
- Experience (3+ years) in Java 5+ development, Spring, REST, JSP, Java Application Servers, HTML, and Javascript. Proficiency in Java 7 and related APIs. Experience with Spring, MVC frameworks (eg Angular JS), Cloud Deployments, AWS, OpenStack, Azure, and
.NET a plus.
- Direct participation in building a large-scale and highly-available web application using Java technology. DevOps experience with clusters, sharding, and technologies such as RightScale, etc.
- Knowledge of SQL, relational database design and
NoSQL databases considered a plus
- In-depth knowledge of concepts and standards such as Dependency Injection, AOP, JSON, XML, XPath, XSD, and Message Oriented Middleware a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication (demonstrable) skills required, including the use of productivity software and remote conferencing tools
- Experience and ability to lead and/or participate in teams and in group discussions
- Experience and software lifecycle and development tools such as Linux/JVM internals, Jersey, Jetty, Maven and Git.
