Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Manages one or more quality assurance teams on projects of moderate to large size and complexity. Responsible for overall design and implementation of testing strategies and tools, as well as, the design and implementation of project test plans. Ensuring that software development projects meet quality standards prior to project release. Recommends most efficient way to produce new products. Evaluates progress and results of development efforts. Responsible for hiring, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of QA Engineers.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

- Expert knowledge of company's software development design procedures.
- Proven experience in leading QA projects.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making, and communication skills.
- PC's and various software applications.

JOB COMPLEXITY:

- Manages moderate-sized QA projects, usually within an assigned product line.
- Ensures projects are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards.
- Facilitates communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances, and technical information.
- Serves as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information.
- Organizes project through development of a Project Plan.
- Ensures projects are completed according to product specifications and are properly documented.
- Implementation of the product satisfies the product specifications.
- Ensures that QA test plans meet the project requirements.
- Manages personnel activities of staff (ie, hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, and recommends termination, as necessary).

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Software Engineering or Computer Science; advanced degree desirable.
- Typically requires seven to ten years of technical experience in software development and QA with one to three years of project leadership experience.
