Job Description

We are seeking an analyst who will be responsible for understanding and documenting support/marketing/sales data, defining and prioritizing data requirements, preparing data reports, and providing thorough communication in reports and presentations to business owners. Works on project teams to make improvements to Rackspace SMB Service offerings. Analyzes data to draw conclusions and determine root causes. Publishes regular updates on data requirements, trends and conclusions.

Responsibilities:

-Analyzes customer feedback and data and recognizes patterns and consistencies.
-Groups similar data sets together to provide reports and analysis.
-Compiles data summaries and creates basic views and reports.
-Merge, transform, manipulate, and create datasets into required format for analysis.
-Graph, chart, plot, and summarize data.
-Work under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers.
-Applies business knowledge to analyzes and interpret data sets and identify root causes of problems and performance exposures.
-Prepares summaries, presentations, and graphic representations of data analysis results.
-Works with managers to present findings and analysis.
-Makes recommendations, based on business objectives and available data sources, to incorporate new analytical and reporting tools.
-Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
-Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:
-General knowledge of data assets, data requirements, and data reporting. Intermediate skills in publishing regular updates on data requirements and trends.
-Ability to provide thorough work, attention to detail, and consistently accurate reporting.
-Intermediate organizational skills.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate with a range of customers (executives to front-line personnel).
-Basic understanding of business processes.
-Basic understanding of Rackspace corporate structure, strategy and products
-Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office.
-Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
-Strong quantitative skills.
-Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
-Ability to use professional concepts and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
-Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand.
-Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.
-Requires a Bachelor degree in math, statistics, business or a related field and 5 years or more of progressively responsible experience in analytics and reporting.
-Above average capabilities with SQL.
-5+ years experience using SQL for the purpose of data analysis and reporting.
-Experience in supporting sales and marketing organizations preferred
-Basic knowledge of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics is preferred.
-Proficiency in at least one statistical analysis tool such as R, SAS, and/or Weka is preferred.
-Knowledge of common data structures and ability to write efficient code in at least one language preferably Java/C++/Python/Perl/.Net is a plus
-Experience with distributed databases and query languages like Hive/Pig/Sawzall and/or general map reduce computing is a plus.
