About the Opportunity
Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst provides technical leadership as part of the QA Team and is responsible for technical aspects of the QA process and assists and mentors less experienced QA team members in quality practices throughout the SDLC. This individual will provide technical leadership as part of the QA Team and is accountable for technical aspects of the QA process.

They are knowledgeable in modern test techniques, including automation and will participate in test design necessary to verify next-generation products. Participates in automation strategies for specific projects and may be called on to help develop automation scripts/tools/technologies to execute on those strategies.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

o Responsibility for complex and highly integrated software systems developed in a fast-paced agile development environment.

o Create QA project plans for test planning and execution and guide daily testing activities of other testers.

o Mentor, evaluate, and provide leadership to QA staff.

o Oversee test planning and execution, implementation planning, and turnover to production.

o Help plan and design test strategies and QA procedures.

o Participate with evaluation, selection, and implementation of automated testing tools.

o Assist in developing and maintaining quality assurance procedures and standards.

o Review business requirements for testability and maintain traceability to test cases.

o Catalyst for change, experience with organizational design and change management

o Participate in the review of project deliverables including requirement specifications, functional design documents and technical design documents

o Responsible for the creation and execution of detailed Test cases to verify software functionality and adherence to business requirements

o Review requirements to identify ambiguities and make suggestions to improve requirements and ensure testability

o Work closely with the Business Analysts, formulating test plans, preparing test cases, executing the tests, and fully documenting and reporting the results.

o Analyze, maintain, and track defects for testing.

o Maintain awareness of software developments and trends in testing methodology and recommend how they might be used to enhance productivity.

o Provide guidance to user communities as they execute user acceptance testing.

o Summarizes testing and validation results and communicates with project team members regarding status.

Qualifications
Minimum 6 years Quality Assurance experience with at least three years (3) years in a leadership role in Quality Assurance and/or Testing.

Functional expert in QA strategy techniques.

Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Team player as well as a self-starter who needs little supervision and possesses.

Leads automation architecture and automation design efforts.

Leads introduction of automation technologies.

Mentors engineers in proper test design techniques.

Verifies defect.

Independently develops test schedules.

Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or technical discipline (physics, electrical engineering, etc.) or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Experience: 3 to 5 years in a software QA environment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows products.

Desired Qualifications:

Masters degree in computer science or technical discipline (physics, electrical engineering, etc.)

At least 2 years of experience in a software development role using an Object Oriented language (C++, Java).

Experience applying formal test development methodologies (for example model-based testing) to complex testing problems.

Significant experience with automated testing tools, preferably Segue Silktest or QA Partner.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong teamwork skills

* Experience with networking and/or communications protocols, especially TCP/IP.

* Experience/Expertise with instant messaging applications and protocols.

* Experience/Expertise with streaming media applications and protocols.

* Experience with Microsoft Project

* Ability to read/interpret LAN protocol traces.

* Knowledge of various programming languages, including Java, Visual C++, Perl, Visual Basic, etc.
