Responsibilities

SUMMARY
The Manager of Software Quality Engineering is responsible for managing team members, other managers and the overall Software Quality Engineering and Test efforts for the Pearson Online Learning Programs and Product Lines. This requires the individual to manage people, projects and work collaboratively within an Agile Development team and with peers and senior management in other departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates project and team status to all involved - both onshore and offshore.
Understands and implements at a team level, guidelines and proficiencies developed by the Pearson Practice Areas
Works with Project Managers, Software Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Software Quality Engineering Mangers, Architecture, Systems and Application support groups, Network Engineering, etc. to resource and schedule projects requiring testing.
Updates, oversees and trains team on industry and Pearson practices within Software Quality
Provides authority for assigning projects and following-up with the owner to ensure that the project is being worked at a level consistent with priority
Manages Software Quality Engineering Managers and allocates resources based on priority and as driven by the Product roadmaps
Tracks defect trends and creates meaningful metrics
Tracks and monitor fixes and problems reported
Creates and manages career enhancement plans and performance appraisals for individuals

Driving release quality and efficiency thorough automation

Qualifications

Expert experience or knowledge required in the following: SQE process, SQE documentation, Agile development methodology, and testing
Working experience or knowledge required in: HTML; XML; Active Directory; Active Server Pages (ASP); JavaScript; Transact SQL; Database Concepts; Internet web browsers;
Knowledge in: Coding Fundamentals (variable declaration, program flow, functions, error handling, etc)
Experience with automated testing tools Selenium and Java programming.
Advanced experience using estimation practices related to task durations to meet schedules in an agile software development environment
Ability to learn and actively seek new skills and knowledge to keep up with the changing technology field, including bringing any new ideas to the SQE department
Ability to think outside the box, adapt to circumstances, learn from co-workers, and share information and experiences
Ability to be flexible and adapt to any given situation
Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent leadership skills
Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations
Must be self-motivated
