Description:

The SAIC Government Solutions Business Unit (GSBU) currently has an opening for a Senior SAP Basis Administrator. This position can be located in San Francisco or San Diego. Telecommute part time or full time would be considered. The candidate selected for this position will become a full time employee of SAIC.

Under minimal supervision, the SAP Basis Administrator maintains the life cycle management of SAP systems within a SAP Landscape of ECC, BW, Solution Manager and Portal. Applies standard SAP principles, concepts and techniques in system installation, user administration, managing system access, monitoring performance and problem diagnosis and resolution. Demonstrates excellent tactical approaches that also reflect the strategic perspective. Work is largely self-directed and may receive general review for overall fit with the SAP and enterprise strategy. Administers all aspects of the SAP ECC, BW, Solution Manager and Portal systems. Installs the system, performs upgrades, and applies system "patches" (OSS notes, support packages, add-ons). Supports the technical implementation of the SAP system landscape as it evolves (ie, development, test, staging and production). Performs system refreshes; participates in the scheduling of refreshes as requested. Monitors and tunes performance and workload. Manages the SAP system landscape, including the Transport Management System. Performs systems maintenance and upgrades as needed, including backups and restores. Solves a wide range of difficult problems independently. Identifies needed system corrections and enhancements and recommends changes. Applies advanced system management principles, concepts and techniques. Evaluates and recommends new hardware, software, tools and utilities within the SAP environment. Provides staffing for systems support consistent with Service Level Agreements. Works extensively with and has moderate influence among others within the SAP group, the IT Department and with others outside the IT Department. Provides subject matter expertise in technical and process discussions; may serve as a member of a technology advisory group. Fulfills routine communication requirements. Acts as a technical resource to other SAP support personnel and IT personnel.

Required Skills/Experience:

-Must have UNIX Shell Scripting experience to maintain and develop SAP monitoring scripts with email notification and integration with Remedy for ticket management.
- Must have HA clustering experience in the UNIX environment for SAP ECC and SAP Portal. Must be able to support active/active and active/passive nodes.
- Must have experience in maintenance and upgrade of BSI taxware software.
- Must have STMS transport configuration, setup and troubleshooting experience
-Solid understanding of relational database theory, including familiarity with Oracle database structures; solid understanding of programming concepts, including familiarity with SQL programming.
-Demonstrated expertise in Sun Solaris and Linux.
- In depth knowledge of broad range of SAP technical areas including Transport Management System (TMS), Web Application Servers, Solution Manager, Apache web Servers, Security and Authorization. -
-Demonstrated ability to independently determine approach to work, and provide a detailed review of completed work for accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent to outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- SAP Basis experience required for the following SAP systems- SAP BW NetWeaver 7.0, SAP ECC 6.0, SAP Portal 7.3 and SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1
-Experience in SAP application administration - SAP Basis in a UNIX or Linux and Oracle environment with strong focus on configuration, analysis, performance tuning and troubleshooting of both ABAP and Java stacks.
-Experience performing SAP System installs, upgrades, system refreshes and system & client copies.
-Knowledge of SAP transports and configuration of STMS.
-Strong multi-tasking skills and abilities to handle changing priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Must have proven documentation skills for SAP upgrades or installation procedures that you have performed.

Qualifications:

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 9+years experience. Must have 6-10 years of SAP Basis Administration experience.
