Essential Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated software technology professional with great people skills, strong current development capacity, command of cutting edge technologies, and an understanding of and drive to deliver commercial software. The successful candidate will have strong software development skills and capacity, a desire to develop software meaningful to customers, and exposure to a variety of operating systems and programming languages. This is an opportunity to collaborate with teams across multiple GE Technology businesses and development sites. Close interaction with customers will ensure products produced provide meaningful value in a highly differentiated way.

What you will do

Design and implement new software while understanding the overall system in which it operates

Build web, mobile, and server applications to optimize industrial equipment operations

Understand user personas and how those personas interact with and benefit from industrial data

Implement modern, intuitive, and high quality user interfaces customers enjoy using

Partner with Quality teams to ensure resulting products are highly reliable and perform well

Provide timely and accurate estimates for project deliverables

Investigate and evaluate new technologies

Stage multi-product systems simulating real customer environments in hybrid (On Premise/Cloud) topologies

Collaborate with all stakeholders including other GE businesses and customers to ensure product success

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field

Minimum of 2 years software development experience

Minimum of 1 year of Java

Eligibility Requirements:

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills

Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or related field

Familiarity with social Web App design

Familiarity with Basic .NET UI stack: WPF, Silverlight, WinForms, ASP.Net

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Ability to design high-quality, artistic vector graphics

Experience with mobile programming (iPhone, Blackberry RIM, Microsoft Mobile) a plus

Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-site development organization

Familiarity working in Agile development environment

Able to debug and troubleshoot software and system issues

Understanding of the HMI/SCADA market segment including emerging trends and business models

Knowledge of Data Acquisition (Historians) and control systems

Knowledge of process automation software systems solutions and the markets they serve
