JOB SCOPE/SUMMARY:
- Deploy, monitor and maintain server hardware, operating systems and application software
- Ensure operational stability, efficiency, and security of server systems and infrastructure
- Conduct necessary technology research and provides recommendations
- Installs and configures new hardware and software
- Provides user training and support as necessary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Evaluates system hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
2. Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, and system security of a multi-platform environment which includes Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Macintosh systems as well as hardware used in an automated manufacturing/distribution environment; adheres to strong (industry standard) systems administration techniques and procedures..
3. Manages e-mail, DNS, file sharing, application, and/or other systems and services as necessary.
4. Regulate access, maintain user names and passwords to computer data files, monitor data file use and update computer security files.
5. Monitors network users and traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware.
6. Monitors and maintains current back-up of all critical data.
7. Evaluate and test new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and established guidelines.
8. Assist in the procurement, installation and modification of computer software and equipment to automate material handling, production processing and packaging equipment.
9. Update and maintains licenses for use of PC based programs.
10. Monitors and maintains data center environment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Education or training equivalent to a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
Recognized industry certification (eg MCSE, RHCE, SCSA) or relevant work experience is required
5+ years of experience in Information Technology field
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to compose business correspondence, understand technical manuals and writing skills
Must be self-motivated in learning new technologies and willing to share knowledge
Ability to solve complex problems and perform accurate analysis
Excellent interpersonal and excellent written & oral communications skills are essential
Familiarity with fundamental networking, routing and distributed computing environment concepts
Familiarity with TCP/IP applications and tools such as NFS, NIS, nslookup and dig
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to Travel and be on call 24x7 with a company supplied pager/phone
