Description

Software architect is responsible for the technical direction of a project. Makes high level design choices for the software structure, frameworks, protocols, and algorithms. Determines coding practices, development tools, and validation requirements. Performs pathfinding and surveys technologies. Interacts with multiple technologists in the company and within the industry as well as between developers and project managers to evaluate feasibility of requirements and determine priorities for development.

Qualifications

Description:
The position is part of the Exascale System Software Pathfinding group. The team is responsible for the strategy and architecture for high-end HPC computing, and for tightly coupling with other HPC organizations in Intel to leverage the work needed for exascale to bring value across the wide HPC ecosystem.

Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for researching and prototyping innovative approaches to operating systems, kernels, and run times for high-end HPC system through exascale and beyond. The candidate will be expected to work with minimal supervision and will have to be flexible to work across multiple Intel groups to meet project goals and deadlines.

In this position, your responsibilities will include the following:
Research, design, and prototype innovative approaches needed for future large scale HPC machines.
Collaborate with the hardware architecture design teams to drive hardware features allowing more efficient software resource management.
Collaborate with other system software teams and application teams to understand the needs of those sub system and applications and incorporate those into the operating system, kernel, and runtime designs
Help respond to RFIs and RFPs from national agencies by providing the needed operating system work.

Minimum Requirements:
A BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with at least nine+ years of experience, a MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with at least six+ years of experience, or a PhD with at least four+ years of experience in aspects of researching, design, and prototyping HPC operating systems and kernels.

5 years of experience in implementing operating systems and kernels
5 years of experience working with HPC systems

Addition Preferred Qualifications:
Proven track record of successfully past projects from conception to implementation.
Demonstrated ability to turn requirements and constraints into design criteria.
Previous successful cross-group collaborations in driving research agendas.
Ability to effectively work with other teams.
Experience working with national agencies, eg, DOE or DoD.
Experience with large RFIs and RFPs.
