Junior Scrum Master

Yoh has a contract-to-hire opportunity for a Junior Scrum Master to join our client in Santa Monica, CA.

Key skills:

- Prior IT development background is preferred.
- Web development project experience.
- Ability to multi task- manage Agile Scrum activities for multiple teams.

Job Responsibilities:

- Organize and facilitate release planning, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, retrospectives and demo meetings.
- The Scrum Master will be responsible for conducting and managing agile scrum activities for multiple teams.
- The Scrum Master will ensure that scrum processes are followed and scrum metrics are gathered in order to track team progress.
- Will be working closely with Manager of Project Management, Technology leads and Product Owners to establish priorities and determine delivery dates.
- Track and communicate scrum metrics including velocity, capacity, sprint release progress and retrospective outcomes.
- Ensure that the teams are practicing the core agile principle of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, visibility and continuous improvement.
- Assist the team by updating and monitoring our Agile tracking system (Jira) as needed.
- Recommend improvements and assist with changes to achieve best practices.
- Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
- Identify and remove impediments and prevent distractions so that the team can focus on sprint goals.
- Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution.

Job Qualifications:

- One (1) year experience in a Scrum Master role.
- Certified Scrum Master certification is preferred
- Jira w/Green hopper experience is preferred.
- Confluence experience is preferred.
- Excellent team player and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse personality types.
- Ability to understand technical issues at a high level.
- Through understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Must have exceptional communication, organization and time management skills.
- Experience in documenting requirements and creating agile stories.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.
