Programmer/Analyst III

Job Duties

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director for Quality, the incumbent will provide computer programming, database development, computational, technical and analytical support for several ongoing clinical and quality projects for the Department of Medicine at UCLA Medical Center. The applicant will be responsible for requirement gathering, design, develop, maintain and enhancement of portals and databases that will be used by clinicians and generate reports for various quality initiative programs. The incumbent will also be involved in testing clinical related data management systems to improve the workflow of clinical end users and assist in research grants development.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
[1] design, develop, test, and evaluate clinical dashboards as well as Key Performance Indicators (KPI);
[2] analyze clinical data for KPIs;
[3] create Business Intelligence (BI) and Decision Support architecture including data warehouses, analytics, and report modelling.

Job Qualifications

BS in Computer Science and 4+ years programming experience in multiple languages, tools, and libraries ORMS/PhD in Computer Science. Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows Server, Windows 7/XP, etc) and Relational Databases (SQL Server, Access, Oracle). Programming experiences in TSQL and/or PL/SQL languages and tools including SQL Server and Business Intelligence (SSRS 2008/2005, SSAS, SSIS, DTS) tools. Thorough knowledge of developmental tools: Microsoft Visual Studio. Familiarity of BI: SharePoint 2007 or above, Business Objects, MS SQL Server Analytic Services (SSAS), MS SQL Server Data Integrating Services (SSIS), SQL Server Data Reporting Services (SSRS), SAP tools including Crystal Reporting, WebI & dashboards. Experience in application development, integration and support across variety of relational databases (SQL Server, Access, Oracle, Visio). Proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL programming, Reporting Services and Share Point: design tables and indexes; design and deploy T-SQL queries, functions, stored procedures, reports and sharepoint sites. Ability to research and apply current protocol standards including XHTML, XML, XSLT, XML-FO, XPATH, Portals and Portlets, Web Parts, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI. Ability to develop re-usable and modular code to be shared amongst development team. Ability to install, configure, and maintain computers and/or compatible machines and HP Laserjet printers. Working knowledge of applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and e-mail, communications protocols and communication software. Knowledge of Windows operating environment and Windows-based applications. Understanding of TCP/IP Networking and security related to Sql server and web services. Knowledge of clinical IT systems, medical terminology, safety terminology and quality initiative programs. Demonstrated skills to work with others, skills in writing and verbal communications, and ability to multitask. Basic clinical workflow knowledge. Demonstrated ability to write clear, precise, detailed, comprehensive and grammatically correct letters, memos, reports, policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical and administrative information. Demonstrated oral communication skills to speak effectively on a one-to-one basis and in groups having a wide range of computer literacy, to engage in fact finding and to convey information to clarify conceptual issues. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, faculty and administrators. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. General knowledge of UCLA policies and procedures preferred.
