Job Description
Provides general, pre- & post-testing support for genetic testing. Provides test result interpretation & preparation of final reports. Collects appropriate clinical & family information from patients. Serves as consultant to Mayo & non-Mayo physicians & geneticists regarding clinical assessment of high-risk patients. Provides high-level genetic expertise to physicians & patients, which requires independence & professionalism. Plans, coordinates, facilitates, integrates and evaluates the Genetic Counseling Program and Services. Provides ongoing education to all divisions and departments within Mayo Clinic Arizona relative to services provided. Acts as liaison to internal and external providers and provides ongoing education relative to genetic counseling services provided at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Interacts professionally with patients/families and treats them with dignity and respect. Develops collaborative relationships with all Mayo Clinic entities. performs administrative duties relative to development and expansion of genetic counseling services and re-reimbursement for services rendered to patients.
Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree in Genetic Counseling or directly related discipline with a minimum of one (1) year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Ability to develop and manage program operations . Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client. Knowledge of human genetic disorders. Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and provide instruction on proper care and treatment. Ability to counsel patients and/or families in life management and coping skills. Ability to apply mental health counseling methods and techniques. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of clinical research. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. Knowledge of community support services and funding agencies.
License or Certification:
Board eligible/Board Certified as a Genetics Counselor required.

Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: Monday - Friday work week; salaried exempt position with minimum 80 hours/biweekly.
Weekend Schedule:
Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $2,368.80, based on a Full time position.
