Business Analyst - Supply Chain - INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY
Seattle, WA
Full-time, 40 hours/week
8:00am - 4:30pm, Mon-Fri

The Business Analyst II utilizes knowledge of the assigned business unit(s) and systems technology to conduct operational studies of units to (eg, work flow), and design and implement enhancements to computer-based systems. Builds test data, tests systems, and analyzes test results. Establishes program scope and timeline, and facilitates implementation of system changes.
1. Utilizes thorough knowledge of assigned business and systems technology to identify and design improvements to computer-based systems. Consults with internal and external system users (eg, vendors, VMMC staff) to ensure system design changes are compatible with existing processes. Devises test plans, builds test data, and tests new or enhanced application functions.
2. Conducts operational and organizational studies of assigned business units. Analyzes structure and flow of work through units and recommends changes to improve operations. Keeps abreast of relevant changes in technologies and as appropriate, incorporates new technologies into new systems and/or system enhancements.
3. Collaborates with business unit leadership, and other parties (eg, IS, vendors) as appropriate, in determining and implementing cost-effective solutions to business problems and/or system failures. Develops contingency plans for potential system failures.
4. Establishes project scope and timelines; works with business unit management in assigning accountabilities to project team members, and communicates changes in project scope/timeline to management and customers. Provides guidance to lower-level Business Analysts as appropriate.
5. Develops and delivers training and operating procedures. Provides formal classroom training for new applications, utilizing vendor-supplied applications (eg, tutorials) where appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent. At least five years related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of information systems/technologies including PC-based applications (eg, MS Office); knowledge of business unit-specific systems (eg, Matkon, Cerner) a plus. Strong skills in using report writing applications. Strong skills in conducting systems analysis, and in troubleshooting. Strong project management skills, including organizational skills and aptitude for detail. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
