Virginia Mason is seeking an accomplished Clinical Information Systems (CIS) Director to direct the planning, acquisition, development, implementation and support of our enterprise clinical information system. This director provides leadership for the CIS team to include application, project management and training staff; promotes system solutions that help to achieve integrated information systems strategic goals for the health system; and ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the Virginia Mason vision and values of Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence and Service (TIES). This director must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and implementation teams; and possess a thorough working knowledge of system development and process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities Include:
Develop and maintain strategic and long range clinical information systems plans in support of the corporate mission, vision and business strategy in both the hospital and ambulatory settings.
Provide leadership for the clinical information systems planning and steering committees to set appropriate policies and standards and to prioritize projects.
Provide leadership, mentor and coach IS managers in all activities required to carry out the strategic and long range plans in an efficient and effective manner.
Develop strong professional relationships and maintain open communications with physicians, administrators, managers, and peers in other healthcare organizations, as well as with vendors, consultants and contractors.
Hire, develop, and retain top-notch talent who work well in a team environment to accomplish strategic and long range goals while providing consistent and reliable service and support. Design and implement organizational structures to support strategic vision.
Develop and closely monitor operating and capital budgets required to support the strategic and long range plans of information systems
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
BS/BA or equivalent work experience required. Masters degree preferred. 5+ years previous IT management experience; 10+ years with clinical information systems concentrating in system implementation, project management, end user training, systems design and analysis Cerner Millennium experience strongly preferred. Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking and leadership skills; including teambuilding and interpersonal communications. Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects involving multiple customers, interests and goals.
