Position Summary:
We have an opening for a IT Systems Engineer to help with the infrastructure and support of our hosted systems. The IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of various server, computer systems, hardware, and peripherals. Primary Responsibilities:
• Create, define, and maintain server installation/configuration standards †OS, hardware, software, and version levels.
• Recommend system hardware upgrades/changes to improve performance, maintenance and cost reduction.
• Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot fault-tolerant server hardware and software
• Facilitate escalation to hardware/software vendors to aid in problem resolution
• Create, define, and maintain documentation related to departmental operating procedures, policies, and guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance for other departments (development, quality assurance)
• Assist in defining short and long term departmental strategies and policies
• Manage internal systems including servers, workstations and laptops
• Participate in the IT on-call rotation
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of distributed computing environments, clustering, and fault-tolerant architectures
• Experience supporting and managing fault-tolerant web applications using industry best practices
• Extensive knowledge of server OS (Windows, Linux, UNIX), including administration, security, hardening, and automation
• Extensive knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies (VMware, Amazon EC2)
• Strong knowledge of core networking protocols (eg TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), network troubleshooting, and load balancing tools
• Experience in installation, configuration, performance tuning, and capacity planning of server environments
• Proficiency in documenting system designs/configurations
• Working knowledge of performance monitoring, scripting, and automation
• Ability to prioritize and follow-up on tasks
• Ability to collaborate and work well in a fast paced, team environment
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as necessary
• Good oral and written communication skills regardless of audience
• Ability to solve problems independently, quickly & completely, and communicate them clearly to all involved parties.
• Knowledge of Healthcare IT industry preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor†s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, AND a minimum of three years progressively responsible experience is required, OR and equivalent combination of education and experience. MCSE, VCP or other certifications a plus. CD-sysengsd, CyberCoders
