Description:
Scottrade, Inc. has an End User Technology Engineer position available in Saint Louis, MO. The main purpose of this position is to build, deploy and support Workstation infrastructure to all Scottrade employees. This position also provides Level III, mission critical, and proactive support, in addition to daily Workstation infrastructure problem resolution to all Scottrade associates. This position provides support by leading and managing short and long term projects and requests related to the entire Workstation infrastructure, which includes all Workstation hardware, Middleware and software. Project and request types include proactive and reactive tasks to implement new, enhance existing, and maintain standards of the Workstation infrastructure. This is accomplished by working with business owners, other support groups, and outside vendors to leverage various support and Workstation engineering tools and techniques. This position provides technical support to local and remote employees via phone, email, remote control tools, and desk-side visits.
Responsibilities:
* Build, test, deploy, and maintain software applications using Flexera Admin Studio, Microsoft App V and Altiris.
* Create and maintain deployment scripts and MSIs (WiseScript, Installshield, VBScript, Auto IT and batch).
* Create and maintain Workstation WIM images.
* Lead and participate in prioritized business projects.
* Evaluate vendor solutions to validate that their application configurations will work in the Scottrade environment. Gather Workstation software requirements for new/updated applications and configurations.
* Test and automate the deployment of vendor software and Workstation infrastructure changes to the Workstation environment across our Branches and Corporate users.
* Explore and evaluate Workstation infrastructure strategy working closely Workstation vendors and with business units.
* Maintain the security of our Workstation infrastructure by deploying patches and updates as advised by internal and external contacts.
* Troubleshoot and resolve Level III Workstation infrastructure hardware and software issues.
* Provide Leadership through collaboration with other End User Technology associates to improve Workstation infrastructure; Train Level I and II support on new Workstation configurations.
* Create and revise technical and non-technical documentation.
* Research and recommend system modifications to reduce or proactively address customer problems.
* Participate in problem management to resolve complex and high impact projects.
* Provide advanced technical skills in troubleshooting, maintenance and enhancements of Workstation applications and operating systems.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Experience designing, building, testing and deploying software packages in an enterprise level environment.
* Solid understanding of Patch Management and ability to test and implement Workstation patches and security improvements in a Windows XP and above environment through security-based console.
* Knowledge of manipulating and converting Workstation images.
* Established skills using VBScript, Powershell or other Scripting language for centralized management and automation of Workstation environments.
* Expert level proficiency with Windows 7/Windows XP and the Microsoft Windows Office 2010 suite, including the ability to use and provide 3rd level troubleshooting of these applications.
* Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and enhancing Workstation security and configuration management through Group Policy Objects (GPO) as well as the ability to create custom policies.
* Proven experience in a Subject Matter Expert role as well as in a lead role for various projects and initiatives. This includes assisting with project-related decisions and tasks as well as delegation and documentation of project work.
* Ability to design and develop process improvements for the enhancement of the Workstation infrastructure.
* Ability to design and develop technical documentation, training, mentoring and support to other Workstation support teams.
* Intermediate level proficiency with networking and telecommunications including TCP/IP and Firewall technologies.
* Project management skills for small to medium sized projects.
* Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL V3 methodology as it relates to Incident, Problem, Release and Change management.
* Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic team-oriented environment, while quickly adapting to changes.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Highly motivated and strong attention to detail.
* Foster company success through a professional appearance, being courteous to customers and all Scottrade associates and by having a positive attitude.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
* 4+years advanced Workstation support experience required.
* 1+ years experience with deployment consoles (SCCM/SMS, Altiris or other) required.
* Experience leading Workstation upgrade projects preferred.
* Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification preferred.
