Description:
Responsible for leading projects and improvement initiatives. Responsible for metrics development and reporting to highlight enterprise customers performance improvement opportunities.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Planning Develops and maintains comprehensive:
- Project plans (schedule, risk, issues, implementation)
- Project schedules using work breakdown structures, critical path
- Resource plans, including roles and responsibilities and both internal and external staffing
- Quality plan
- Risk Management plan
- Communication plan
Project Execution
- Meets project objectives within timeline and budget requirements
- Utilizes best practices to meet committed dates
- Manages team resources, external and internal stakeholders and business partners.
- Identifies and resolves conflicts proactively escalate to management appropriately.
- Tracks and resolves open issues.
- Provides regular and proactive communication to stakeholders, sales leadership, team members, and IS management.
Project Control
- Manages scope aggressively
- Manages change control
- Tracks resource usage and financial spend and make required adjustments.
- Understands and follows project accounting rules, especial capital and expense.
- Reviews and updates risk, quality, communications plans.
- Conducts regular project team and stakeholder meetings
Project Close
- Conducts administrative and financial closeouts
- Conducts Lessons Learned and update PMO risk list.
General PMO
- Timely maintains and updates project information in the PMO Project
- Follows project management best practices as identified in the VWR Project Managers Handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills:
- Project control methodology. Must be familiar with project control frameworks (such as VWR's PLC or external methodologies such as RUP)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills (in English). Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely to project team members, IS/business management and senior management.
- Interpersonal skills. Able to manage relationships and deal with conflicts in a professional, objective manner.
- General business knowledge to be able to effectively manage vendor, contractor and business partner relationships and work. Must understand basic accounting (capitalization vs. expense)
- Organizational skills. Must be able to manage people, finances, business relationships encompassing a high level of detail.
- Leadership skills.
Qualifications:
- Formal training in project management tools, techniques and best practices is desired.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required.
- PMI Certification (PMP) highly desired.
