Job Description
Responsibilities
* Translating business requirements into formal detailed technical specification that can be passed to development staff (could be in disparate physical locations) for implementation
* Ensuring that all software constructed meets technical requirements; software can be efficiently maintained, meets the data warehousing development standards established by XL, and meets quality assurance standards established by the business and I.S.
* Providing development effort estimates and reporting work progress/status to supervisor
* Performing hands-on development and administration using XL s data warehousing toolsets: Informatica 8.x, 9.x, Autosys, SQL Server 2008
* Providing technical guidance to developers
* Supporting QA/UAT process and defect resolution
* Providing support to Production Support team including but not limited to handling business and user inquires about data and processes
* Staying current in data warehousing tools, advancements, and philosophies
Qualifications
* Minimum 6+ years hands-on development experience on data warehousing projects using Informatica 9.x, 8.x, Autosys, SQL Server 2008
* Minimum 2 years experience in creating technical specification design for Informatica 9.x, 8.x routines
* Superior SQL skills required
* A minimum of 2 full data warehouse lifecycle implementations
* Knowledge of financial business concepts such as Earnings calculations, Accruals, General Ledger processing, foreign exchange implications, etc.
* Experience with RDBMS concepts and dimensional data modeling
* Experience working with offshore developers required
* Insurance/Reinsurance business experience a plus
* Possess good interpersonal skills, be team-oriented, technically motivated and creative, user oriented with a desire to learn XL Re's business
Education
* 4-year Bachelors degree in technical field preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
Minimum Experience
The successful candidate for this position is likely to have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
