Description

The Content Development Manager serves as a liaison between senior management and the content development department while managing projects between several offices. This role oversees proofreading and medical editing for all promotional materials (digital and print), and manages a staff of proofreaders and medical editors on various shifts while ensuring all deadlines are met. The Content Development Manager oversees 8 Direct Reports and 2 Indirect Reports in a Matrix relationship, and works as a key business partner to cross-functional management, process and production management.

Detailed Position Responsibilities:
- Immersion into Studio processes; Content Development processes and assistance in day-to-day project work

- Accurately and meticulously review complex materials and provide original references for medical manuscripts.

- Assistance in any interviewing/hiring and training of direct reports

- Alignment with peer managers locally and in NJ

- Oversee proofreading and medical editing staff and quality of work including training and corrective action

- Ensure all materials contain accurate data/material and that all medical references are correct and all Legal/Medical/Promotion Compliance mandates are incorporated

- Provides original references for medical manuscripts as needed; annotates final PDFs for Legal/Medical/Promotional Compliance review; and provides a final Reference List formatted per AMA style

- Interacts with Account Executives to resolve issues, negotiate revisions, and verify information whenever necessary and ensures all deadlines are met

- Aligns with cross-functional management team and completes projects as assigned by direct manager

Qualifications
- Superior management, interpersonal and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

- Strong command of the English language including excellent verbal and written communication skills (grammar, style, punctuation) and fluent in Spanish
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat as well as expertise in medical/pharmaceutical terminology and federal regulations governing pharmaceutical advertising

- Expertise in medical editing, copyediting, medical referencing and fact checking
Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:

- Familiarity with internal routing and approval processes for pharmaceutical promotional materials

- Working knowledge of Reference Manager, EndNote, or similar bibliographic referencing tool
Other qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or similar field required

- Minimum of 3-5 years medical editing experience required

- Minimum 3-5 years experience supporting and overseeing an editorial team required

- Pharmaceutical experience required

- Advertising agency experience required
