The Testing Services and Labs team within the IT Service Management organization works with customers to test, analyze, and remediate IT solutions. We provide Microsoft customers and partners with test consulting services based on Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) to improve the quality, productivity and reliability of a customers' critical business applications, and make existing information technology environments operate more efficiently. The IT Service Management organization is looking for an Infrastructure Consultant to deliver technical solutions allowing customers to maximize their investment in Microsoft technology. Building upon solid IT project experience relative to their level, this Consultant will assist customers in high quality testing engagements meeting required deliverables and testing goals. We are looking for someone that is strategic, entrepreneurial, innovative, and demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and quality delivery.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in developing and providing strategic direction for a Testing business. We are looking for someone who has deep knowledge of complex hardware and network design, setup, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving. This role requires world class consulting and communication skills. The ability to scope and understand complex test problems and then be able to design, communicate, deliver and maintain the solutions is a key success factor. Specific Responsibilities will include Consulting delivery and lab facility operations within customer testing engagements which will require utilization of sound troubleshooting and problem solving skills both Microsoft software/hardware and vendor solutions. Microsoft technologies including but not limited to: All Windows Server/Client OS platforms, installation/configuration, automated deployment, monitoring tools, and best practices.
This position requires troubleshooting skills of layer 1-4 problems that may arise with emphasis on both Ethernet and fiber channel networking solutions, including TCP/IP, sub-netting, advanced routing, VLans, IPSec, and remote access technologies. An understanding of server/storage hardware maintenance, troubleshooting and repair is required. Storage Area networking design and configuration experience preferred. Experience in Systems Center, specific to physical/virtual deployment and management aspects is preferred. Cisco NX-OS experience is also preferred.
Qualifications:
- Must have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 1 - 3 years related IT experience.
- Served in a Lead Testing Role where you drove new business development
- Work experience should involve technical consulting, development, and deployment
- Must have experience developing and driving new business value within a Testing environment
- ITIL Process Framework
- Proven communication, cross-team collaboration, leadership and management skills
- Ability to develop utilities, tools and other automation to improve overall efficiency.
- Network: Cisco, IP addressing, Switches and routing
- Experience with most recent Microsoft Server and client platforms including deployment, configuration and troubleshooting
- Hardware: HP, Dell, EMC, Cisco, F5, Hitachi, Shunra MCSE, MCSA, CCNA
- Willingness to travel for customer engagements, 25-30%
