Role Summary/Purpose:
This position maintains responsibility for the health of global enterprise server infrastructure, including server hardware and operating systems. The role will collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering teams to establish enterprise standards for optimizing Server Support, Performance/ Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery Plans across the company. Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast paced, interrupt driven environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain the datacenter racks, Servers, operating systems and DC infrastructure
- Monitor, prioritize and resolve incident, problem, change control and service request tickets assigned to the queue
- Organize and prioritize IT tasks and projects to ensure timely delivery
- Present monthly operational metrics internally and quarterly operations reviews for senior management
- Develop, maintain, and socialize global process/procedures for incident management, performance and capacity planning, server upgrades/modifications, and root cause analysis
- Manage team of FTE and/or vendor resources
- Ensure timely and reliable delivery of services in support of Servers and Cloud Hosting offerings meeting published SLAs and availability metrics
- Provide cost effective scalability, reliability, capacity and performance of server solutions.
- Optimize implementation of tools to provide Click to compute server build automation.
- Work with the Sr. Manager to introduce and maintain computer policies, certifications, procedures and standards.
- Develop plans & execute disaster recovery tests to provide timely recovery of the IT infrastructure.
- Ensure proper negotiation with vendors and make recommendations on strategic and tactical decisions concerning computer Servers and office automation equipment and support.
- Management & Supervisory presence and hands-on experience. Team leadership and capability to perform in a 24x7, fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Stay current and informed on information technologies and developments.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years' experience managing a global team and an outsourced managed service for Server Run activities.
- Ability to communicate technical and business problems in a non-technical manner
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and host conference calls and escalation bridges with internal customers, external vendors, and senior management.
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications
- Solid presentation skills to develop and sell server strategies to Sr. Management.
- ITIL v3 Foundation and/or MOF experience (Certifications a plus)
- Flexibility to work off-shifts as requested or dictated by the flow of business
- Strong understanding of ticketing or workflow management systems and tools
- Proven ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities
- Proven ability to apply clear critical thinking in complex, stressful situations
- Analytical thinker and ability to diagnose operational data to highlight trends and provide pro-active recommendations
- Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Must have sufficient technical depth to communicate with server administrators and internal organizations.
- Ability to enhance team expertise via career development plan and mentoring of new hires
- Ability to apply technology to improve existing products and systems
- Proven ability to deliver tasks on-time and adherence to deadlines.
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Computer Science.
- At least 5-8 years of progressive Server/ Virtualization experience in Production Operations, Data Center, Server/Storage Technologies.
- Experience with Virtualization, monitoring and management tools.
- Experience managing medium to large scale D/C environment - corporate, SaaS & Hosting supporting Windows, Linux & UNIX server production systems and integration.
- Solid experience with managing Server Migration Projects, Server Consolidation, Virtualization, and Optimization technologies, methodologies, application rationalization and other consolidation techniques.
- Proven background with VMware along with Windows & Linux operating systems and Storage Area Networks.
