What you need for this position:
• Must have significant Linux system administration experience (likely 3+ years)
• Need to be a team player that can take direction and work closely with peers
• Knowledge of building, configuring and administering production Linux or Unix computer systems;
• Experience diagnosing system software problems;
• Experience with Scripting in Perl, bash or Python;
• Must be highly versed in Linux administration and best practices
• Familiarity with enterprise network architectures
• Knowledge of monitoring toolsets and configuration management is a plus
• Programming/scripting skills for automation including bash, PERL and Ruby is a plus
• Familiarity with ticket tracking systems .
• Demonstrated experience in system and related network administration of complex computer systems, specifically Linux systems;
• Knowledge of resource management and job scheduling software (ie slurm, PBS, MOAB);
• Demonstrated experience working in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities;
• Knowledge of or experience administering computer security software and hardware requirements.
• Knowledge of or experience in networking systems and software including DNS, LDAP, and TCP/IP (preferred skill)
• Knowledge of Linux Kernel Internals (preferred skill)
What you'll be doing:
• Responsibilities include hands on provisioning of services, monitoring, upgrading hardware and software, configuration management, and understanding and maintaining peripheral services and software.
• Install, configure and maintain and associated applications
• Will take direction from the team lead and will work within a team-environment to achieve organizational goals.
• Will provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems and user request through an established trouble ticketing system.
• There are other teams responsible for Storage, Networking and Infrastructure, so this position does not require primary responsibility in those areas, but knowledge and experience in these areas are expected.
