Application Analyst

Benefitfocus is seeking the ideal candidate for an Application Analyst. The candidate will have proficiency using SQL, HTML and web programming, and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position will report to the Manager of Technical Operations in the Benefit Informatics division and will be located in our Tulsa, OK regional office. The primary objective of this position is to provide application software support and data analysis services for Benefitfocus data translation programs and end user applications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide solutions to customers problems/requests via phone, email and web
• Provide implementation services for new and existing customers
• Work with BI customers and development staff to evaluate, prioritize and execute development initiatives for system corrections, upgrades, and new functionality

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Business Skills and Abilities:

• Must have the ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts both in written form and orally
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for details
• Must have an expert end-user knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word
• Must have a demonstrated ability to carefully assess and accommodate detailed project requirements
• Must have ability to quickly and efficiently analyze large sets of data

Technical Skills and Abilities:

• Must have knowledge of SQL Server stored procedures, table definitions and complex queries
• Should have familiarity with file transfer, encryption, and compression software such as FTP, PGP and Zip
• Troubleshooting skills for supporting web-based applications
• Should have the ability to manage Windows applications and operating systems

Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor degree in MIS, engineering or related field
• Minimum of 5 years experience in systems analysis, software implementation, software development, technology customer service
• Direct experience in healthcare finance or medical benefit plan administration is a plus
• Knowledge and experience with web browsers, specifically Internet Explorer
• Knowledge and experience with all Windows operating systems (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, etc.)
