ATK is currently looking for a Manager of Enterprise Engineering and Quality Solutions to work at our Eden Prairie, MN or Promontory, Utah office.
Position Summary
The position provides overall leadership for Enterprise Engineering and Quality systems including the Product Lifecycle Management Center of Excellence, oversees the systems development life cycle of new solutions or upgrades, and drives continuous improvement to business processes and business results based on the capabilities of the various solutions. The position also assists in coordinating maintenance and enhancement efforts to leverage enterprise resources, knowledge and best practices.
The position works closely with business and technical leadership, serving as an expert resource, bringing forth opportunities to leverage enterprise business applications and integration of data to align with strategic business objectives and influencing decisions regarding business process changes.
Primary Responsibilities
This is a position of influence, negotiation and expectation management.
- Directs and manages staff including:
- Defining and measuring goals and performance indicators for direct reports, and assuring this is done for all resources in the department
- Sharing regular feedback with employees regarding performance and addressing issues as necessary
- Hiring, managing, developing and motivating quality employees
- Coaching and mentoring employees
- Facilitating communications and knowledge sharing
- Partners with the business to maximize existing investments in technology and provide advice, guidance and support on technology-based solutions that align with strategic engineering and quality objectives
- Manages the execution against project plans and delivery commitments
- Ensures solutions fulfil business, integration and compliance requirements
- Oversees that the full systems development life cycle is followed, including requirements gathering and analysis, planning, software development, configuration and/or coding, testing/quality assurance, user acceptance, deployment and application maintenance
- Optimizes application functional performance by overseeing the development and consistent use of standard operating procedures, following the ITIL framework, and standard SDLC methodologies
- Responsible for business relationship management including expectations and communications, quality, scope and risk management, and issue resolution
- Manages and facilitates integration of enterprise engineering and quality applications into the enterprise technical architecture and business environment including the use of standardized SOA tools and methodologies
- Owns budget responsibility for the various enterprise engineering and quality cost centers including project planning, resource allocation, and team organizational management as well as regular review of budget-to-actual performance
- Works with Supply Chain to prepare RFPs, evaluate different proposals, and prepare business cases for hardware, software and services under consideration
- Manages application vendors by ensuring SLAs are met and establishing a relationship where vendors act as partners rather than order takers
- Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential applicability in support of enterprise engineering and quality initiatives and advises the CDO and Engineering/IT Council regarding technology options, including costs/benefits and recommended strategies
- Collaborates with other Enterprise Solutions Delivery teams, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Shared Services, Security Shared Services, various IT Centers of Excellence and Group IT teams to coordinate efforts and ensure common goals are met, conflicts are addressed and solutions are well-documented and sustainable
- Serves as a change advocate by identifying and acting upon opportunities for continuous improvement via our Performance Enterprise System (PES) business model that encourages prudent risk taking, exploration of alternative approaches and organizational learning
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors or master's degree in computer science, information systems, systems engineering, engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- Seven to nine years in Information Technology
- Two to four years of experience as a team lead or manager overseeing application development teams supporting a COTS engineering environment utilizing a formal SDLC methodology using waterfall, agile or lean
- Experience with Secure SDLC or ITIL is a plus
- Change management and governance
- Budget and vendor management an advantage
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong technical and business knowledge of engineering processes in a manufacturing environment with working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter PLM an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as business relationship and presentation skills
- Problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills to influence management, as well as internal and external partners
- Strong project management skills is an advantage
- Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and influence outcomes
- Motivated to achieve results in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work with ambiguity and both give and take constructive feedback
- Must be a team leader as well as team player who takes responsibility for results but ensures that success is recognized due to contributions of the team's efforts
- PMP, SCRUM master, LEAN, Six Sigma, CMMI an advantage
Working Conditions
Travel Required: Occasionally, no more than 25% domestically
