This Network Engineering-Mid position provides an excellent opportunity to apply and extend your skills in a complex and varied environment and experience new technologies. Engineer will be required to operate, maintain, and support complex LAN, WAN, MAN, WLAN, SAN and wireless environments into a production environment. Have the understanding and ability to implement Cisco and industry best practice solutions into the production environment when needed. Will also be supporting additional networking equipment from Brocade, Foundry, F5, Checkpoint, and external carrier networking services. Other duties as required. The position is in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, with some travel to remote data centers and regional offices within the US as required. Occasional on-call support and after hours work are a requirement.

Specific skills and experience required:

- Ability to support Network based infrastructure solutions based on industry best practice solutions, write procedural document and test solutions.

- Experience supporting LAN, WAN, MAN, WLAN, SAN technology solutions in a Cisco enterprise environment.

- Experience with and ability to understand, distill and document solution requirements.

- Experience with and ability to support deployed Cisco based solutions.

- Experience performing system administration duties on Cisco and monitoring systems.

- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve LAN, WAN, MAN, WLAN, wireless SAN problems using many types of tools and troubleshooting methodologies.

- Experience with the ITSM helpdesk ticketing system

- Cisco and other networking Certifications a plus, but not necessary

- Detail oriented and must be able to think independently

- Must have a Do What Ever it Takes attitude

- High level of initiative and self-confidence along with strong verbal and written communication skills is important.

- Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others based on an established project plan

- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

- Skills in communicating effectively orally and in written format

- Managed multiple priorities simultaneously

- U.S. Citizen or have legal right to work in the USA without sponsorship (Agency check will be required for this position)

Qualifications

:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in IT Systems Management or related field, experience in lieu of education is acceptable.

6-8 years of directly related experience required.
