Job Description: Data Center Lead

CGI is looking for Data Center Lead who will be responsible for providing strong leadership for the operations team and maintaining a secure, scalable, and efficient datacenter facility. The duties of this position entail oversight of the hardware infrastructure, network infrastructure, provisioning and maintenance practices, security practices, disaster recovery planning and execution, as well as general oversight of daily operations. Successful candidate will have strong understanding and experience managing ITIL/ITSM processes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define Data Center Services requirements and policies for all services within scope.
- Recommend Data Center Services requirements based on industry best practices.
- Leading small to medium sized infrastructure support teams in mixed mid-range and Mainframe hosting environments, for a Federal customer.
- Provide business priority of systems (ie, revenue generating systems vs. business systems).
- Develop, update, document, and maintain Standards and Procedures Manual for all Data Center Services functions.
- Analyze the project environment, including acquiring management team feedback, to identify the appropriate sets of skills, training, and experience needed to support all of the services covered in Data Center Services.
- Procure all Data Center Services equipment needed to support the agency's operational requirements.
- Retain financial responsibility for the all Data Center Services equipment maintenance, licenses, and warranty contracts.
- Engineer, install, operate, maintain, and manage the Data Center Services equipment needed to support the operational requirements.
- Coordinate Service delivery with the Service Desk, as well as other support groups within each of the other Service Areas, in coordination with customers and all appropriate third parties, as necessary.
- Contribute to the knowledge management activities of the agency by communicating problem solutions to the Service Desk.
- Proactively provide the Service Desk with system outage information.
- Maintain a continuous improvement program that improves delivery for all services defined under Data Center Services.
- Perform root cause analysis on systemic issues, recommending solutions or elevating unresolved issues to the appropriate support personnel.
- Maintain and provide escalation contact list(s) for all Service Areas (including third parties such as vendors and Contractors).
- Develop functional and technical requirements for new Data Center Services projects.
- Communicate with appropriate personnel to ensure a smooth promotion of approved software into production, in accordance with agency's procedures.
- Manage additional resources, as needed, during planned and unplanned critical events, using the pre-defined hourly rates and based on predetermined response time requirements.
- Coordinate and make environment documentation (ie, network configuration, and inventory of software to be supported).
- Maintain and provide Management Dashboard and audit information for Service-Level Objectives and Service-Level Requirements in a near-real-time, web-accessible, and query-able format.
- Comply with all security policies.
- Maintain and provide audit information, including access, general logs, and application logs, in accordance with the security policies and requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- The ideal candidate has experience managing technical specialists in an ITIL service environment, and is experienced in configuration management, backups and restores, DR/COOP planning, system image management, change and release management, storage and capacity management, incident and problem management, and root cause analysis of hardware, software, and networking issues, in highly available data center environments.
- Experienced in Windows and Linux administration, and EMC and IBM storage.
- The candidate must have 6+ years of experience in datacenter management and have an in-depth understanding of datacenter infrastructure.
- The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. This position will require superior organization, prioritization, documentation, and multitasking abilities.

Additional Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical abilities and will be experienced in the following:
ITIL/ITSM processes
- Server hardware configuration and provisioning.
- Datacenter general infrastructure management including racking, cabling, organization and other daily practices.
- Cloud computing software.
