SAIC has a job opening for a NETWORK ENGINEER to join our Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) team in Washington, DC.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Network engineers on our team provide O&M support for PBGC's Network Infrastructure that provides data, voice, and video services for the PBGC's IT Enterprise infrastructure which includes COOP/DR sites and several widely dispersed remote offices. The Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the organizations voice and data network in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the system users. The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures at all branches.

We are seeking a highly self-motivated and knowledgeable network engineer well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems to perform the following duties:

- Support network planning, analysis, design, and maintenance of the local and wide area networks to support data, voice and video services

- Provides high-level technical support for voice and data network systems

- Creates and maintains network documentation

- Works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures

- Daily network monitoring for network security vulnerabilities, equipment failures, bandwidth and throughput, VPN connections, WAN circuits

- Responsible for installation, administration, and testing of routers, switches, cabling, and other related network components/equipment

- Provides support to NOC personnel during responses to network outages; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses, isolates, and resolves routine to moderately/highly complex network related problems ensuring timely results and minimal disruption of operations; reports and documents findings

- Develops, monitors, and implement network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems

- Manages network management tools and prepares network status reports

Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS degree in a computer-related, engineering, or scientific field, and 6+ years of network technical experience. An additional 5 years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Cisco ASA and AnyConnect VPN experience is required.

Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
