What you'll be doing:
As Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in the ongoing development of the our company's core platform, the foundation of all the consumer-facing systems. You†ll work under the guidance of the Director of Engineering to develop critical applications and services. You should have a strong background in building sophisticated high-scale web applications in Java. The ideal candidate will be passionate about software engineering, technical excellence and delivering great code for fantastic products.

What you'll need:
You'll need an impressive track record of designing and developing large scale, high performance systems, plus:
- 5-7 years of hands-on server side Java software development experience on high-volume, mission critical systems
- Experience developing SOA and RESTful web services
- Experience with Java EE, Jetty/Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate, Jackson and other open source Java technologies
- Experience with relational database application development and SQL
- Experience with Agile development practices and TDD
- CI/CD experience, leveraging tools such as Maven, Jenkins and Sonar
- Experience with unit test development, peer code reviews and maintaining code quality
- Desire and ability to learn quickly, take professional risks, and operate in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- Great analytical and problem solving skills
- Comfortable dealing with uncertainty, ambiguity and change
- Preferred: A deep knowledge of Linux/Unix; fluency in Shell scripting
- Preferred: experience working on high-scale, high performance, mission critical systems
- Preferred: experience working on high-scale content management, information retrieval (Solr/Lucene specifically) and digital asset management systems
- Preferred: experience building products for international audiences, including localization
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related, Master's degree preferred.
