Real-time monitoring and control software systems engineering analyst accountable for the support of SCADA and Decision Support systems, native databases and the Operations Decision Support System (ODSS). Monitors and supports critical production systems to ensure continuous system availability.
Apply proactive and predictive analysis techniques to identify basic issues/problems and advise more seasoned technical staff before they impact service or lead to more serious issues.
Participates in the support of critical water control and decision support systems during emergency and storm onslaught events and assists in the twenty-four/seven, immediate level 1, 2 and 3 responsibilities for problem determination and operational restoration for water control and decision support systems.
Incumbent should demonstrate a basic knowledge of meteorologic and hydrologic monitoring and control methodologies, SCADA systems, PLC technology, system configuration and interfaces/networking to a range of special purpose systems/applications, trouble-shooting, Real Time systems, process-control and device automation hardware and software principles, data collection applications, interfaces to analytical instrumentation, learning and applying new technology. Knowledge of water control structures (gates, dams, weirs, bladder gates, single/multiple diesel and electric pumps) helpful.
Able and willing to learn District's systems and applications including the Automated Remote Data Acquisition and Monitoring System; Automate Remote Data Acquisition and Monitoring System; MOSCAD RTUs; Campbell Scientific RTUs/LoggerNet; Data Collection/Validation Pre-processing (DCVP) system; Hydrology, Hydrometeorology and Water Quality Data Retrieval system; Structure and Flow Configuration tables; webMethods middleware; and Set Site Sensor application at a high level.
Education/Experience Guidelines: Typically has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years experience of demonstrated technical competence supporting SCADA, Real Time and communications systems.
Licenses: Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment: Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may, at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned duties.
Mostly sedentary in an office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products.
