ARINC is currently seeking a Software Support Engineer to support its Airports and Surface Transportation Business Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for the screening, diagnosing and routing of customer inquiries or problem report via appropriate tools. This position will be the first point of contact with our customers (onsite in Wilmington,DE) and must be able to quickly evaluate the software problem report and provide timely and accurate responses in adherence with our Support Agreements. The successful candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced, team environment; take initiative and be able to make decisions quickly. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the following:

- Participate on project teams to adapt ARINC's AIM rail control system for new customers, tailor base product to new customers, and develop customer specific and product enhancements.
- Develop system test requirements, plans, test use cases, and test procedures.
- Write and update manual test procedures.
- Develop system test concepts for field tests.
- Assist in client's transition to new systems/technologies.
- Complete software integration builds using Star Team.
- Build and maintain good customer relations as point of contact for project.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate creation of support cases.
- Responsible for responding to incoming support calls and routing as needed to assigned support engineers and/or creating new cases during the initial customer conversation.
- Escalate to support management when needed.
- Upon being trained in specific product support tasks; resolve software problem reports by taking direct ownership of support related cases.
- Demonstrate the aptitude to learn quickly and grow into positions requiring more responsibility.
- Works well within a team environment and openly communicates to ensure cases actions are performed to ensure Support Agreements are achieved.

- Experience working within an enterprise level software engineering environment.
- Ability to test software based on the design documents.
- Proficient knowledge in C, Java, Tcl/Tk, SQL, Microsoft Visual Studio, Netbeans and XML is required.
- Must have experience with Oracle and Windows operating systems and experience with mission critical system development and support.
- Must have knowledge of and work experience with applying SEI's CMM to software engineering.

Desired Experience:
- Experience in Railroad Signaling, Train Control and Communications.
- Experience in NORAC Operating Rules.

Education or Certification Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Amount of Travel Required for Position 0 - 25
