The Senior Engineering - I&C Advanced Methods & Software will be responsible for the requirements definition and management, design, development, test and validation, and implementation of ESBWR-specific reactor core monitoring methods and analysis software as well as the application specific software associated with ACUMEN [previously 3DMonicore] and advanced thermal limits monitor (ATLM) that will be implemented in the overall ESBWR DCIS solution for the Dominion North Anna 3 Project. Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:
Serve as the dedicated liaison technical project engineer (TPE) between the ESBWR I&C team and the Methods & Software team
Lead systems and software engineer (LSE) of ESBWR-specific reactor core monitoring methods and analysis software as well as the application specific software associated with ACUMEN [previously 3DMonicore] and advanced thermal limits monitor (ATLM)
Lead and perform requirements gathering, analysis, assessment or trade-off, optimization, analysis, and methods studies covering:
- ACUMEN requirements for product functionality/performance or software process enhancements
- AETNA requirements for product functionality and performance or software process enhancements
- ATLM architecture and systems design approaches [eg; incorporation or not of ACUMEN functionality based on integrated digital hardware and software performance available, inter- system interfaces [eg; local power range monitor/gamma thermometer (LPRM/GT), ACUMEN, RC&IS, DCIS]
- Nuclear instruments
- Digital computer based hardware and software technology stack selection for implementation of power plant equipment integrated into the overall DCIS solution
Develop and implement methods and algorithms covering:
- Control rod block/pull sequences,
- Normal and fast reactor power maneuvering,
- Reactor power changes with feed water temperature control
Define and lifecycle management (from planning through commissioning) of system requirements covering plant, system, and component; interfaces, function, performance, process, qualification, standards, regulatory guidance, certification/licensing commitments, technical contracts, human factors, safety hazards, reliability, cyber security, etc.
Use structured change-configuration-document management involving: individual design verification (IDV), independent verification and validation (IV&V), quality assurance (QA), etc.
Create and maintain system architecture and detailed design artifacts, documents, diagrams, drawings, datasheets, databases, lists, dynamic analysis and simulation models, etc.
Collaborate with other I&C engineers to ensure adequate functional and performance margin
Collaborate with cross-discipline engineers to ensure robust integrated plant design using adequate interface control and margin management
Collaborate with digital systems and software project engineering (DS&SPE) team to develop all applicable processes, design, and work plans covering: planning, requirements, design, requisition implementation, test, installation thru commissioning, operation/maintenance [including training], and retirement phases
Collaborate with implementation team to develop, perform, and review unit, module, system, and integration test plans and results including; simulation, V&V, factory acceptance test (FAT), multi-system (MFAT), site acceptance test (SAT) and pre-operational tests as well as licensing inspection, test, or analysis and acceptance criteria (ITAAC)
Use design for six sigma (DFSS), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability, availability/maintainability (RAM) to develop and meet operational targets
Establish productive working relationships with Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) team, project management, support functions, suppliers, customers, etc.
Develop planning documents used as basis for work authorizations and detailed level plans, schedules, reports, etc.
Ensure deliverables are on-spec., on-budget, and on-schedule
Ensure compliance with GEH internal processes including NPI, certification/licensing commitments, standards/regulations, customer, etc.
Support LEAN Six Sigma, continuous process improvement, cost-out, etc. programs
Provide leadership and mentoring in a team environment to deliver with integrity, safety/security, quality, then output - Champion the nuclear culture Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology, Physical Sciences, or Mathematics form an accredited college or university
Minimum of 7 years of experience in nuclear reactor core monitoring analysis methods and software development, OR nuclear fuel and reload design, OR general nuclear reactor engineering, OR nuclear reactor in-core instrumentation and control
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structured systems and software engineering design, development, and implementation of analysis, monitoring or controling products using FORTRAN, C#, or other object-oriented languages
Minimum of 5 years of experience, and proficiency with PC and productivity software [eg; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio] Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
