The Infrastructure Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked infrastructure and associated operating systems. The Infrastructure Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT Infrastructure investments.

  • Manage and maintain VOIP, SQL 2012/14/16, enterprise storage, virtualized environment, enterprise compute, infrastructure monitoring and productivity tools
  • Provide "Primary Support" duties for assigned infrastructure technologies; Primary Support responsibilities include maintaining backup and recovery strategy and documentation, patching, L2 incident ownership through resolution, licensing, capacity management, performance management, configuration management, availability management, SLA management and system documentation
  • Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical representative on projects
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing infrastructure technology; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging the current infrastructure
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure footprint and industry trends
  • Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications
  • Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively
  • Provide orientation and mentoring to junior associates
  • Work within strict timeframes and elevate incidents within defined timeframes
  • Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications
  • Maintain good working relationships with all service providers and vendor to ensure that services received meet expected requirements of contract
  • Participate in 24 x 7 on call rotation
  • Solid technical background in a hosted services environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, software and telecommunications
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience with 3 or more of the following technologies: VOIP/Web Conferencing (preferably Mitel), SQL 2012/14/16, Windows 2012R2/2016, Linux, VMWare 6x, Data Center Management, Infrastructure Monitoring, Enterprise Compute, Enterprise Storage, Cisco, Patch Management and Exchange/O365
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, build, test, implementation and life cycle management of infrastructure technology
  • Working technical knowledge of Scripting programming languages including VBScript and powershell
  • Working technical knowledge of current protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, WMI. EIGRP, BGP, etc.
  • Excellent monitoring and troubleshooting experience
  • Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures, including Visio and PowerPoint
  • Ability to identify incident trends in order to elevate incidents in accordance with standard protocols
  • Able to gather relevant information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices
