Job Description
The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Access Database Analyst within Personal Lines Operations for our Worcester, MA Office.

Position Overview
The Access Database Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining all Access databases in PL Operations. This includes: Working with the business units to identify opportunities and recommend and implement workflow improvements to reduce manual work, gathering and documenting business requirements, communicating and meeting deliverable deadlines, testing and implementing the final application, and training and providing documentation to end-users. The Access Database Analyst is also responsible for leading the project from start to finish, keeping documentation up-to-date and communicating regularly with customers. Responsibilities also include maintaining all current PL Operations databases, making changes as needed, and responding to ad hoc data requests.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement multi-user database solutions to reduce manual work and workflow inefficiencies within the Business Unit while adhering to Hanover best practice guidelines
- Work with internal customers to identify opportunities, recommend and implement workflow improvement initiatives that best suit the business needs
- Maintain existing database applications and provide upgrades when necessary
- Work with customers to gather and document business requirements
- Provide training and documentation to end-users
- Manage multiple projects at once from start to finish, keeping all documentation and communication up-to-date
- Analyze each project request to assure that project results will add significant value to the process
- Respond to ad hoc data requests in a timely fashion

Position Requirements
Required Skills, Key Success Factors and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-3 years experience in database development or 2-4 years of technical experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically MS Access and Visual Basic code
- ODBC knowledge
- SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2 table knowledge is a plus
- Demonstrate creativity and strength in problem solving and developing solutions
- Highly organized; ability to multi-task and drive several objectives simultaneously
- Display strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Self-starter
- Ability to interact with all levels of leadership
