SUMMARY:
The Strategic Architect is focused on maximizing business outcomes and evolving our systems to a future state, supporting innovative solutions for competitive advantage. The architect must have strong collaboration skills, a deep technical knowledge and experience that will result in a strategic and flexible architectural direction. The Strategic Architect will align closely with a Program CIO.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure that the technology objectives of the enterprise are aligned to the business goals
- Communicate complex technical solutions to the business and articulate the cost and impact
- Communicate detailed technical concepts to solution architects, data architects and tech leads
- Evaluate complex business requirements and offer flexible and strategic solutions to meet the business needs
- Document the existing architecture, develop the desired future state, and create roadmaps that chart the course from current to future state
- Align corporate vision and business strategy with cohesive tactical projects and objectives
- Provide leadership and guidance to solution architects, ensuring they are aware of our strategic direction
- Identify opportunities to simplify our technical solutions, providing agile and cost effective solutions
- Provide a strategic risk assessment from both a business and technology perspective
- Remain current with newly emerging industry standards, and understands and can articulate their potential impact to the Enterprise
- Review project artifacts, solution designs, estimates and sizing with Enterprise Architect, CIO and Business Partners
- Promote Hanover capabilities by networking with peers in other companies and actively supporting professional organizations and user groups
- Leverage our current tools and ensure that new tools brought into the organization are aligned to the business need
- Work with Sourcing Partners to evaluate their capabilities and the value they can bring to IT
- Present broad, complex information and concepts in an influential or persuasive way that results in action.
Position Requirements:
- Ten plus years of relevant technical experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in related field, specialized training, certification and relevant work experience.
- Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Governance (TOGAF 9)
- Knowledge of Hanover data and information flows, infrastructure, and Legacy architecture
- Proficient in in core capabilities, including architectural governance, portfolio planning, business enablement and functional management
- Innovative and conceptual thinker
- Strong leadership, communication and collaborative skills, resulting in a closer partnership with the business and IT
- Experience with multiple technologies/Platforms: may include - JAVA, VB6, HTML5, Guidewire, PEGA, Oneshield
- Property and Casualty Insurance knowledge
- Influences without authority using technical expertise and relationships with others in IT and our Business Partners
