Application Support Analyst/Developer (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £400 - £500 per day + Inside IR35
 

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Application Support Developer to join their team. This role is an exciting opportunity to provide essential support for IT applications that underpin core insurance processes, including underwriting, claims, modelling, Business Intelligence and analytics, actuarial and pricing, as well as functions finance, human resources, audit and risk management amongst others. The successful you will be responsible for ensuring these IT applications are available, performing, supported, maintained, secure and continuously improved to meet Business functional and non-functional requirements to agreed service levels.

What you'll do:
As an Application Support Analyst, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our client's IT applications. You will be the point of contact for business users needing assistance, providing second line support and ensuring all cases are resolved within agreed service levels. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in acceptance testing of changes and updates delivered by vendors or produced by the team. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to perform small scale development tasks to enhance system functionality. Lastly, you will lend your expertise to support major modelling systems projects run by other teams.

. Provide second line application support, responding to and resolving requests for assistance from business users in line with agreed service levels
. Maintain all assigned cases on the incident management system up-to-date with progress and resolution details
. Assist in acceptance testing of vendor-delivered/team produced changes and updates
. Retain ownership and monitor closely cases that have to be assigned to third party vendors for investigation/resolution
. Perform small scale development of new uses of the systems, new reports and enquiries, and new interfaces in line with business-specified requirements
. Support major modelling systems projects run by other teams as required by the scope of that project

What you bring:

  • The wealth of knowledge about the insurance market, particularly Lloyds of London.
  • A deep understanding of modelling within insurance and the IT applications that support this process. Experience in managing and supporting leading modelling IT platforms such as RMS Risklink, Risk Manager, Touchstone/Touchstone Re, and RQE.
  • Well-versed in the ITIL service management framework and project management methods like PRINCE2. Additionally, You understand software development life cycle frameworks, including AGILE and Waterfall methods.
  • Understanding of the insurance market and ideally Lloyds of the London market
  • Understanding of Modelling within Insurance and the IT applications underpinning modelling delivery
  • Exposure to the management and support of market-leading modelling IT platforms including RMS Risklink, Risk Manager, Touchstone/Touchstone Re, RQE
  • Understanding of ITIL service management framework
  • Understanding of project management methods eg PRINCE2
  • Understanding of software development life cycle frameworks, including AGILE, Waterfall method
