Department overview:
The Chief Data Office plays a key role in defining and implementing the firm's data strategy, driving transformational change through data capabilities, enforcing data governance for both transformation benefit and regulatory compliance, and elevating Client's data culture. Governance remains a critical focus area, and the Group Data Office, in partnership with Business and Corporate functions, is responsible for ensuring that the firm's data assets are managed in line with the firm's data management framework, policy and standards.
Role description:
The Group Data Office operates a globally federated data governance model, with oversight performed by a central global team.
The Data Engineering Associate will be a member of the Group Data Office's central global team and will be responsible for the following:
* Responsible for designing, developing and implementing data pipelines that connect various data sources and systems to help extract, transform and load data for analysis and consumption by stakeholders.
* Deploy Machine learning models and align algorithms to address complex business problems and improve decision-making processes.
* The role requires a blend of skills in both software development and data engineering to work with both Front End and Back End technologies.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
* Designing and developing scalable data pipelines to collect and process large volumes of data from multiple sources.
* Building data models and ETL processes to ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
* Microservices Development: Building and maintaining highly scalable and fault tolerant microservice, including efficient Server Side APIs
* Deployment: Hands on with CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, DevOps process, Enterprise integration patterns.
* Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data-driven solutions
* Deploying machine learning models into production environments and monitoring their performance over time.
* Using data visualization tools to create reports and dashboards for data analysis and insights
* Optimizing database performance and ensuring data security and compliance with regulations
* Collecting, cleaning, and analysing large datasets to train and evaluate machine learning models
* Developing machine learning algorithms and models using techniques such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and deep learning
* Optimizing model performance through hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
* Proficient in use of MS Office Tools, Confluence, Tableau, Alteryx; Python, Java, Scala for Back End development)
* Proficient in REST services, JSON data, Python 3, Linux/Unix Shell Scripting
* Experience with database technologies like SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing solutions
* Knowledge of data processing frameworks like Airflow, StreamSets, Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
* Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities with experience of preparing presentations and storytelling targeted for senior management audience
* Familiarity with Front End technologies such as HTML, JavaScript (React, Node.js, XML, JQuery), and CSS for building data visualization interfaces.
* Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing data infrastructure.
* Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks like LangChain, TruLens, MLFlow, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or PyTorch
* Familiarity with cloud platforms for model deployment and infrastructure management
* Working knowledge of Cloud based big data frameworks such as data lake, relational, Graph and other no-SQL databases
* Experience with senior stakeholder management on change the bank initiatives with preference given to data & digital transformation journeys
* Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) and interpersonal skills
* Able to analyse complex situations and derive workable actions
* Able to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the firm
* Ability to understand and integrate cultural differences and work effectively with virtual cross-cultural, cross-border teams
* Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
* Keen eye for detail and able to produce high quality content
* Knowledge and hands on experience of operational and change management best practices advantageous
Education and experience
* Wide variety of degrees will be considered, however work experience will be of equal, if not greater importance
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
* A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in data engineering/MLOps, full stack engineering in a large, complex organization
* Experience of working with a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined, globally dispersed teams
* Certifications in relevant technologies or frameworks are a plus.
