Oracle Database Administrator

Looking for a candiadte who is a true Oracle DBA and can work on and support custom Oracle databases. Looking for experience with Oracle E-business Suite, Oracle financial applications suite, payroll accounting.

Job Description

  • Design, create, develop, modify, implement, and administer business and scientific databases ensuring the integrity and accessibility for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data.
  • Contribute to and lead design efforts, regularly gathering requirements and information from users for specific projects and obtain feedback.
  • Develop specifications for several large, inter-related projects and implement them and provide oversight of their implementation.
  • Analyze and define data requirements and specifications.
  • Be responsible for quality control by auditing database integrity to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Interact with management to develop database strategies to support the Lab's mission.
  • Interact directly with users to resolve data conflicts or problems.
  • Select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Provide direction for entire project or project team.
  • Provide coordination between multiple projects or teams.
  • Analyze and define data requirements and specifications.
  • Analyze and plan for anticipated changes in data capacity requirements.
  • Develop and administer data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise within the team and to outside project teams when requested.
  • Communicate and describe work details and relevant technical matters, in written and oral form.
  • Identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Author progress reports and technical proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience successfully designing, installing, patching and administering Oracle databases.
  • Proficient in UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and become effective with new technologies and applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills plus the ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Proven mastery of troubleshooting techniques and ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions.
  • Must have excellent decision-making skills at all times.
  • Must foster an environment of learning, progression and accountability.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Application DBA experience with E-business Suite (EBS) and/or PeopleSoft a big plus.
  • Knowledge of other database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, My/SQL, MariaDB) a big plus.
