Job Summary

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® is building new IT capabilities to enable business value and support the overall corporate strategy. This role is focused on managing a center of excellence focused on software development. In this role, responsibilities include introducing new collaboration and best practices, providing leadership to project delivery, and leading development in ERP, data analytics, data warehousing, web applications, and digital manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor software development analysts.
    • Provide guidance and oversight regarding design and implementation.
    • Assist programmer analysts to achieve higher levels of discipline, quality, and software development maturity.
  • Collaborate with other senior technical leaders to establish, enforce, and evolve software and quality assurance engineering practices and patterns.
    • Plan, track, and provide oversight for projects
    • Plan, track, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Develop, maintain, and ensure proper execution of cross-functional project plans, including personnel and hardware resources.
    • Review project status with cross-functional teams, identify deviations to project plans, and take corrective actions, as needed.
    • Alert management to changes to commitments.
  • Manage the software development process.
    • Participate in the development and improvement of product development and quality processes.
    • Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure product development processes are in place and being used.
    • Oversee implementation and evolution of project management tools and methods to support effective and efficient process adoption.
  • Provide project representation within and external to IT.
    • Collaborate with other functional areas to develop and communicate project status to internal and external groups.

Education/Experience

  • Experience:
    • 7+ year's software development management.
    • Robust understanding of C#, SQL, RPG, Progress, PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, XML/XPath, and REST/SOAP services.
    • Practical experience with RDBMS products including SQL Server, DB2, and MySQL.
    • In-depth knowledge of software development best practices including unit and regression testing, static analysis, collaborative reviews, automated UI testing, standards creation, and developing against the MVC/MVVM patterns.
    • Direct experience leading one or more agile development projects, overseeing new application development, and migrating Legacy applications to modern toolkits and frameworks.
    • Management of multiple projects simultaneously through at least two full release cycles (inception through deployment).
    • Strong communication, listening, negotiation, and facilitation skills; team leadership; comfortable with conflict management.
    • Use of one or more ALM tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Efficiently and independently manage projects.
    • Resolve problems collaboratively with peers.
    • Balance needs of customers with business goals.
    • Coach, mentor, grow, and retain programmer analysts.
    • Effectively communicate.
