IPS conducts applied computational research in areas that include genomic, structural and molecular informatics, computational and systems biology, patient selection and translational biomarker research, and broader fields including knowledge science, epidemiology and machine learning-across the full lifecycle of drug discovery and development and across all therapeutic areas at BMS. We are excited to announce an opportunity for a results-oriented individual to join our team as a leader of data science activities that empower scientists in our Thematic Research Centers (TRCs). As a member of the Knowledge Science Research - Informatics and Predictive Sciences organization, you will provide leadership, promote shared problem-solving approaches, and ensure that integrated analytics data needs drive the evolution of our data and knowledge ecosystems.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing, processing, integrating, and mining a wide range of biomarker and clinical data types.

You will partner closely with our computational researchers to design and build analysis-ready data products that utilize cutting-edge frameworks of reproducible research. This role will work with Early Clinical Development program's translational biomarker science leads, where processing and interpreting multi-platform and multi-dimensional 'omics' data in clinical settings is being employed to monitor pharmacodynamics in near real-time, and inform future patient selection hypotheses.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:Lead the hiring, development, and mentorship of data scientists embedded within our Thematic Research Centers (TRCs).

Through a hands-on lead by example approach, set a standard of excellence and evolve best practices to match the emergence of new approaches to data product development.Work closely with research and computational scientists to design and build analysis-ready data products that fit the needs for R&ED scientific questions and program decisions.Ensure that our data workflows drive value for scientists, collaborators, and patients.

Partner across organizations to develop cross-functional strategies, priorities, and resourcing plans that drive data utility and program acceleration.Develop and deploy biomarker data processes and procedures as they apply to complex, high-dimensional data sets.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a scientific or data-related field (eg Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Biology, Genomics) and 12+ years of academic/industry experienceor Master's Degree in a scientific or data-related field (eg Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Biology, Genomics) and 10+ years of academic/industry experienceor PhD in a scientific or data-related field (eg Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Biology, Genomics) and 8+ years of academic/industry experience4+ years of leadership experiencePreferred QualificationsYou enjoy working in an interactive way with translational scientists, computational biologists, bioinformaticians, data coordinators and engineers.

Strong understanding of multi-dimensional omics' data and systematic, relational approaches to data integration and data processing workflowsExcellent programming skills, such as in R & Python, used to integrate, verify and report data according to specifications.Excellent skills in developing & deploying automated interactive data visualization products using tools such as R-Shiny & SpotFire.Familiarity with CDISC standards, such as SDTM and ADaM data.

Experience with cloud computing, Rest APIs and container strategies.Along with programming proficiency, you must show a strong capacity for independent thinking, care about the underlying biological questions and the advancement of science for patient benefit.The starting compensation for this job is a range from $178,000 to $220,000 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.Eligibility for specific benefits listed on our careers site may vary based on the job and location.
