The foundation of a connected world, it's a network free of the limitations of the past, and flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic, and transformative needs of the changing world.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDISH Wireless is seeking a Principal Private Cloud (VMWare) Engineer who will be directly working in environments supporting automated deployment and management on a VMWare cloud-native environment. You will work directly towards increasing automated recovery and zero-touch provisioning using tools like Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Gitlab, Jenkins, and more.
Key Responsibilities:Led highly complex cross-team technical projects to successful deployment and long-term supportabilityAct in a technical leadership capacity: Mentor junior engineers and new team members, and apply technical expertise to challenging programming and design problemsArchitect and develop highly available, fault-tolerant VMware infrastructure designs and solutionsEstablishes standards and guidelines for the design & development, tuning, deployment, and maintenance of VMware infrastructure, including backups, upgrades, and automation processesProactively identify and recommend updates to software or architecture as necessary before reaching capacity limitationsDevelop automated responses to incidents so that manual intervention is not necessaryChampion system metrics (MTBF, MTTR, etc.) and convey them to decision-makers regularlyManage priority of issues and tickets and participate in rotating an on-call schedule with other members of the team, including weekendsSkills, Experience and RequirementsA successful Principal Private Cloud (VMWare) will have the following:Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree; six years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience8 or more years of professional experience in VMware services and toolsDemonstrable experience in Infrastructure-As-Code, automating deployments, cluster management, and systems security within a CI/CD PipelineDemonstrable experience in bare-metal deployments of VMware infrastructureDemonstrable experience with building and administering multiple VMware products across multiple remote locations and data centers4 or more years experience in programming using one or more of the following: Java, C+, Perl, Python, Ruby, or advanced Shell scriptingPreferred additional experience:Experience with VMware on Cloud (VMC) on AWSExperience in Kubernetes regarding containers/Microservices principlesDisciplined practice of producing, maintaining, and versioning system documentationSalary Range Compensation: $115,500.00/Year - $165,000.00/Year Compensation and Benefits We also offer versatile health perks, including flexible spending accounts, HSA, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, career opportunities, and a flexible time away plan; all benefits can be viewed here: DISH Benefits.
